Brookwood Invitational Scholars Bowl

Post by jrbarry »

108 teams registered for the 17th Annual BISB (Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA) which claims to be the biggest high school invitational tournament in the country. I predict we'll end up with around 120 teams as last year. States represented in this year's field include Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

Should anyone want to add a team, contact me at [email protected]

My team's website has BISB information including a list of teams/schools participating. Our webmaster has Mono, so he might be behind a bit in updating that list.

Actually, if his mono experience was anything like mine, your webmaster will have little to do other than sleep and sit at the computer, so no worries.

Our NC school dropped earlier. Probably playing at Richmond on Saturday.

We now have 124 teams as teams are adding and dropping all too fast.

A big thanks from myself and all the LAMP players on an excellent tournament. We had a blast (as always) and were impressed with how smoothly things ran. Playoffs were quite tense, though.

A side note: I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't better Alabama representation at Brookwood. Come on Brindlee, Bob Jones, ASFA, Grissom (hey, them going out of state will happen one day), and all the other teams from AL... Anyway, at least Springs got fourth, congrats to them for that.

We would've been there if at all possible... We simply couldn't make it this year due to various conflicts that players and coaches had. You know me well enough to know that we try to get to everything possible... We are planning to go next year.

Also, Steven, where did you guys place? I would've thought you guys would be ahead of Indian Springs seeing as we are 2-0 against them this year.

We were in the quarterfinals, eliminated by Walton, the #1 seed. Um, I don't guess there's a "place" in there, but we were #8 seed out of the prelims and I think the only team in the quarters that lost and was seeded over us was Dunbar from KY, so that would make it 6th, I suppose. Anyhow, Springs is quite odd with their playing. It was like this last year as well. Their tournament performances vary drastically. Anyway, we got 3rd at Brookwood last year, so that's good enough for me.

Our travel budget got blown away with the three hurricanes this fall... so we couldn't make it this year either. Perhaps a spring fundraiser will get us to the JV tournament. At any rate... how did Florida teams fare, or were there any this year?

FL teams supposeofly in attendance:
Okeechobee
OWCC
Rocky Bayou
Trinity Catholic
Vero Beach

None of which made the elite 8 unfortunately. Beyond that, I do not know.
