Michael:

Since I will still be on winter break in Michigan during this tournament, I would like to play it at Ann Arbor (I am writing a packet with Minnesota, but will not be playing with those players who will be at a different site). If it is possible, I would like to play on some sort of exhibition/house team (I'm not sure what ACF's official policy is on this), but I can play solo if necessary.

Actually, there's a solid chance we might get three, but we'll definitely have two at the least.

I will drive one UIC team in my new Rommobile car. I can submit my packet on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Is there any chance of a trash tournament on Sunday, January 17--the traditional ABD date? The Penn Bowl writers just announced their trash tourney for Sunday, January 31; hopefully, a similar mirror will materialize at Northwestern. Last season, the Penn writers were such good sports at finishing their trash a week earlier than Penn Bowl to accommodate the ABD slot at Michigan.

Your questions were used at Ohio State's THUNDER mirror, correct? That would mean Youngstown State and Ohio State have seen them. If there is interest from the rest of the field, we could probably host something.
I think Northwestern gets the first chance to host Penn Bowl Trash; if they don't want to host it, we'll see.

I know I'd play if you get a set everyone is blind to and I could probably get some others from Illinois. This would give you at least 2 teams.

I don't speak for the team, but I suspect that some players from Ohio State would have some interest in a Sunday trash tournament; I know I would. (I actually haven't seen Trashtastrophe, but I'm in the minority for our club on that.)

Now that my four potential teammates who had been attending our fall practices have declined to make the trip with me, I had better withdraw UIC from this ACF Winter. I remain willing to drive my new Rommobile to Ann Arbor on that Saturday to play any trash scrimmage on Sunday. Since I have no time to look at archived packets from tournaments in which I have not played, I certainly have not seen anything from this recent Trashtrophe.

Congratulations to Alabama,

For those who haven't confirmed the number of teams they'll be bringing (or people who haven't emailed or posted here) - please let us know by Wednesday, 1/13 at 10 AM.

Please also email [email protected] with a contact number for your team. We'll send out the informational email with locations/emergency numbers, etc. late on Wednesday evening.

Stats through End of Prelims
Overall Stats

Quick Results:
1st: Illinois A (11-0)
2nd: Toronto (9-2)
3rd: Illinois B (9-2)
4th: Chicago A (9-2)

Side note for those who wish to know why there seem to be 12 rounds when only 11 were played: Since there were only 10 non-finals packets blind to all, and using a bracketing format that required eleven, round 7 was run on two different packets - Michigan State's packet for the Xiang Yu bracket, Illinois B's packet for the Han Xin bracket. To avoid faulty reporting in the round report statistics, I entered that round as two different rounds - round 7 for games played on Illinois B's packet, round 8 for games played on Michigan St. A's packet.

Many thanks to everyone who came today. I think everyone had fun, and the tournament seemed to run smoothly with only a couple pretty minor delays.
Extra thanks go to Bryce for volunteering to do the stats. Thanks also to Trevor from CMU for helping to staff, and for all the editors for a good question set.

Thanks to Michigan for a well-run tournament. There aren't too many hosts where we could have an early evening bus to catch and not even be worried about it.

(Also, not that I actually care about this, but why bother breaking the tie from the circle of death for second?)

I'm pretty sure the ACF Rules require somewhere that trophies for 1st and 2nd place be given out for overall, UG, and D2, so It would be necessary to actually break that tie.
