This is the full announcement for ACF Fall 2004 to be held the weekend of October 30th at sites as to be determined throughout the nation. As already announced editorship will be by Subash Maddipoti and Matt Cvijanovich. We have revised the packet requirements somewhat.

The full packet will now require thirty tossups and thirty bonuses to be distributed in the following way:

History 6/6
Science 6/6
Religion, Myth, Philosophy 3/3
Fine Arts 3/3
Social Science/Geography 2/2

This is a reminder that the first deadline for ACF Fall packets is this Friday (the 13th as it were). Also the deadline for putting in bids to host ACF Fall is this Sunday (the 15th).

Finally, it has been brought to my attention that we haven't posted anything about preferred formats etc. We would prefer packets in Word or rtf or failing that posted in the text of the message.

As far as formatting the packets goes here is a sample of what I would like

Tossup:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Answer: XXXXXXXXX

(Note: the Answer part should be indented once with the tab key and necessary parts of the answer should be underlined)

Bonus: Leadin.....................................................

A.(10) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Answer: XXXXXX

B.(10) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Answer: XXXXXXXXXXX.

C.(10) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Answer: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

(Again the answer should be indented and the necessary parts underlined).

Finally, it occurred to me that I didn't mention this in my previous post, but packets from the same school must be kept blind. In other words if your school is sending both an A and B team the A team has to be blind to the B teams packet and vice-versa.

ACF Fall, now with hosts

Post by Laplace's Demon »

Greetings,

ACF has chosen the host locations for its 2004 Fall tournament. They will be
Cal-Berkeley
Tulsa
University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign)
University of Tennessee (Knoxville)
Rochester
South Florida
Iowa State
(we are also looking into adding another location somewhere near the North Atlantic).

Individual host locations will be putting out announcements giving specifics for their tournaments (inluding contact info, fee schedules, etc.) within the next few days.

Also, because of the lateness of this announcement the packet deadlines have changed. They are as follows:

Sept 24th: -$15 for full packets, -$10 for "novice" and "Freshmen" packets.
Oct 4th: No penalty deadline for all packets
Oct 11th: +$20 for full packets, +$10 for "novice" and "freshman" packets.
Oct 18th: +$40 for full packets, +$20 for "novice" and "freshman" packets.
No packets will be accepted after Oct 18th unless previous arrangements have been made.

Packet requirements are posted in the message above.

We strongly encourage everyone to try to make the "no penalty" deadline. This will ensure that Subash and I have sufficient time to edit the questions and put out the best tournament possible.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

ACF Fall No Packet Penalty

Post by Laplace's Demon »

ACF has decided to offer a no packet penalty for its Fall tournament. If you haven't submitted a packet (or have not made prior arrangements concerning packets with us) you can still play in the tournament for ten dollars over the last packet deadline penalty. This means +$50 for experienced teams and +$30 for novice and freshman teams.
