This was due to certain stats people's decisions that led to the tournament starting at 9 instead of the intended time. Hopefully, that will never happen again.

I thought they were pretty cool.
It would have made sense to just use digital copies of the questions though, instead of printed sets.

No. The school didn't allow the tournament to start until 9 because of the ACT.
Edit: In addition, that makes zero sense considering we're talking about playoff schedules and not prelim schedules.

I doubt any team in Kentucky, aside from Dunbar A, could hang with DCC A.

Manual could definitely hang with them.

Trust me, I have played Manual and they are good. Shray is unbelievable. But every player on DCC A is exceptional.

Like any two balanced teams, it could go either way. But if I had to pick one team to win, I would wager on DCC. They just have so much depth.

Not so sure about that.
They are probably about equal.
Actually, Manual beat us by few more points than DDC A did.

Comparisons like that are rarely accurate in quiz bowl.

I think DCC was missing a few players though I'm not entirely sure. I'm guessing probably due to the ACT.

I guess that is true.
Especially considering that Manual beat us on a low difficulty NAQT IS set, and DCC A beat us on the final set of DAFT playoffs.

This is true. I know for sure they were missing Ryan Dillon.

I wouldn't say Dunbar A would definitely be able to hang with DCC A, especially the full team. Hopefully, we'd be able to play a good, competitive game against them, but I would have to say our science (I guess that means me) needs to be deeper in order to beat the top teams. DCC put up some impressive stats even on some of the later rounds, which were pretty difficult.

To be honest, Ping, I remember thinking you were one of the best science players I have ever seen. I'd have a tough time believing that Dunbar's science was lacking.

Aaron, we had your individual scoring award ready but couldn't find you. Remind us the next time you're at one of our tournaments.
We did however locate our neg prize winner who received a Jeopardy! book

Oh, sorry Sandy. Our team left ASAP. Lukas and I needed to be back in Madisonville at 6:30 later that day. I think MNHHS will be coming to the Dunbar tournament later this year?

The tournament was really fun. The teams we played were tough and good sports. Congrats to DCC A for winning. DCC B was really good, too. I hope we can go back next year.

Wow, according to the stats DCC A was only given a challenge by DCC B. It's unfortunate that they couldn't have had more competition from within or out of state. Hopefully next year this tournament will draw more teams. It sucks to see decent teams like Manual, Johnson Central, and Pikeville not be able to make it to a seemingly quality tournament that is so close to home. In addition it's a NSC qualifier. Props to those KY teams that did make it out and venture into the world of quiz bowl. I am feeling it.

Even more so when you factor in the fact that a fake tournament in Louisville took at least 2-5 teams away from this tournament's field

@Sandy

Love the division names. Who created them and why those particular players/coach?

I created both division names. I just chose three alumni players I knew the best personally and then our retired coach. If we had more divisions, we would've added Elliot, you, and probably a bunch of others I'm forgetting right now.

This tournament has been certified gold by PACE.
That means the following teams have now qualified for PACE NSC 2010: Woodford A and Paintsville B.
Congratulations!

It's nice to hear that DAFT has been made gold.
I'm not sure if Grayson is actually quite good enough to get top half at NSC,
but it is nice to know that someone thinks we have a shot at it.

Hopefully the Spring tournament will attract an even larger field of teams.
