THUNDER at Brandeis, Oct 24

Post by Not That Kind of Christian!! »

Hello, all! I am pleased to announce Brandeis' mirror of THUNDER, written by Trygve Meade, Eric Mukherjee, George Stevens, and John Lawrence. I am assured it will be thrillingly fun. We'll be holding it October 24, which hopefully fits in well among the slew of tournaments being announced for this semester.

The fee structure will be as follows:
Base fee: $100, with -$5 per additional team
Buzzer discount: $5
Moderator discount: $10
Minimum fee: $70

To sign up, please e-mail me at hkirsch -at- brandeis -dot- edu.

The actual announcement of THUNDER, complete with details on distro and difficulty, is here: http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7090.

Some number of teams from CUNY-Hunter will be there. And that number will be one.

I just got a call from Conference and Events saying that my confirmation has (finally) gone through, so everyone should oblige C&E's sort of hard work and sign up in droves!

Harvard will inevitably send 1+ team, even if that team is me playing solo (which I am considering even if we get other people coming).

Jerry can't see the announcement for this, so I will bump it. Whee.

To update everyone, I still intend to play; will start polling the club about it soon.

Bumping this thread in case people still want to send teams and in order to remind people to tell me ASAP how many teams they'll be sending! Thanks.

Hey, Brown, I don't think I know how many teams you're sending... Other than that, here's a final update. Teams should look for an e-mail later in the week with details on transportation, etc.

Hunter = the inestimable Mr. Yetman
Brown (2)
Harvard (2)
Tufts (2)
Yale (2)

We'll have 2 teams, I think it's unlikely that we'll have 3. If we do rustle up another team, we'll let you know.

Brown A (Jerry and Dan Klein) won the tournament, with Jerry and Doug Yetman as the top two scorers. Stats will be posted shortly; SQBS won't stop crashing on me. Thanks to everyone for coming! One note: Please don't leave early from tournaments, especially smack in the middle. If you can't stay late, I understand and will accommodate you with some sort of alternate schedule, but this should be something that I am informed of in the week before the tournament rather than in the middle of.

Wow, Bruce, 35:3 P/N ratio. I think "good job" is an understatement.
