Yeah, Trygve has agreed to play with us and Arnav has expressed interest on the condition that he is indeed in the country at the time of the tournament. So there's a small chance we might be looking for a fourth again at some point in the future.
As I'm probably going to stay a free agent for a while, I'm still interested in this spot if it becomes available.

Ok, this is getting kind of annoying. Some non-negligible percentage of the posts in the CO/CO trash threads have come to involve you asking people to form teams with you and, now, complaining (apparently?) when people shift around, as if you'd somehow claimed them by posting in this thread. At this point you are abusing the system. Most people have their email viewable now, so please use that for requests sent en masse to specific people. That is, the board is a great place for messages like "I'm looking for a team" or "we need a fourth" or even a couple individual requests, but please do not continue the succession of posts asking specific people about teaming up unless you've no other way of contacting them, and definitely do not continue to use this thread to complain about the teams other people choose to form.

So, I'd like to play this, and I have no team. I'd say I know a lot about television and some about movies. Follow C-Ray's admonition and email me if you're interested.

I somehow finagled myself a job that starts the 27th at UChicago, so I'll go ahead and declare official free agency. I know a fair amount of rock music (esp. classic and indie), know a bit about movies, have decent general knowledge, and I'll make the claim that I know as much about King of the Hill as anyone out there. I really don't mind waiting until the morning of the tournament to be drafted, but If you're interested in having me on your team, e-mail me at [email protected].
I really want to play this event, considering that college-style academia and a man with a jar of peanut butter have sorely abused me and my dreams of grandeur.
I am a free agent who is currently writing a trash tournament myself, with some specialties in music, movies, video games, some sports, and teh intertubes...and I mean all of them.
Oh, and if you pick me up, I'll totally play in the mask of your choosing.

I'll be joining a team of Jeff (above) and Bryce Durgin (another free agent) and possibly Brad Fischer or Kristin Strey.

Assuming we're able to be there (and we'd know relatively soon, I hope), it looks like I'll be playing and Kristin will be staffing.

It's been a while since we had a field update. As far as I can glean from this thread and what people have emailed me, the field is now as follows:

Chris Borglum, Billy Beyer, Seth Kendall
Nathaniel Kane + RIT people
Greg Sorenson + "oldsters"
Mike Bentley, Jonathan Magin, Carsten Gehring, "Frank"

Andrew Hart, Trygve Meade, Rob Carson, Chris Carter
Jacob Durst, Andy Sekerak and Kirun Sankaran
Free Agents:
Greg Peterson
Sean Phillips

Rom Masrour
Maggie Larkin
Brian Weikle?
Nolan Esser
It looks as if we could have a substantial number of teams, so if people are interested in staffing, they should get in touch with me at adyaphe at gmail dot com. Also, of course, if you're still interested in playing, you should post here or email me.
I'm sorry that I won't be able to make it to Chicago this year to see the tournament -- this looks like a great field.
Perhaps it hasn't been possible to derive this from my earlier post, but I would like to be considered a free agent and am looking for a team of some sort.
This year's set will either contain (a) tiebreaker tossups or (b) an extra packet set aside for a finals round, but not both.
In keeping with the autocratic tradition of this event, arbitrary team names will be assigned either by myself or by the indispensable Donald Taylor, who will be helping me with making the schedules. All requests for team names will be ignored.
Also, I will try to put together an updated version of the field later this week or this weekend. If free agents want to start trying to coalesce into teams, or hooking on to incomplete teams, that would be much appreciated.
I know football and marginal amounts of college sports/basketball and would be happy to hop on that team. I also get tossups on Theory of Justice at Andrew Yaphe trash tournaments.
EDIT: I have now been benevolently accepted onto this team. I hope one of you likes baseball.

The tournament is just under two weeks out, and as Andrew said, I'm helping with schedules. As such, I'd like to get a better idea of the number of teams, in order to make the contingent schedules.
From perusing this thread, the field stands as:
Dan Passner, Ted Stratton, Mike Cheyne, Evan Nagler
Chris Borglum, Billy Beyer, Seth Kendall
Nathaniel Kane + RIT people
Greg Sorenson + "oldsters"
Eric Mukherjee, Jonathan Magin, Carsten Gehring, Frank Firke
Craig Messner + "Illinois irregulars"
Jack Glerum, Matt Laird, Nick Bergeon, David Garb
Michael Knapp + "possible cobbled-together squad"
Jeff Geringer, Dan Donohue, Bryce Durgin, Brad Fischer
Eric Kwartler, Matt Weiner, Matt Lafer, Evan Adams
Chris Hendry, Michael Kearney, Megan Clancy, and a surprise guest
Andrew Hart, Trygve Meade, Rob Carson, Chris Carter
Jacob Durst, Andy Sekerak and Kirun Sankaran
Mik Larsen, Charlie Dees, Nolan Esser, Chris Ray
Brendan Byrne, Greg Peterson
Free Agents:
Rom Masrour
Maggie Larkin
Brian Weikle?
As it stands, that puts us at 15 teams. I'd like to get it to 16, as it would make for a much nicer schedule. If you've got a team, or want to join a team, please do so promptly.
Lorin Burte and his friend Harry want to play I believe, but don't read the board. They could be the base of a 16th team I'd figure, and a good one at that.

I think I've decided that I'm not coming to CO this year. If I were coming, I can think of nothing I would enjoy more than joining you, Brendan and Guy.
But I'm not coming, so that's moot.

Our team will now need a fourth due to a conflict. All are accepted, although we do have a TV/Video Games weakness right now.
Also, is there any logistical information available for the event yet? We will not be attending CO proper, so building info, parking info and what time registration is would be appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: Our team will now be unable to attend this year. Hopefully we will be able to attend next year.

Seth suggests using 59th or Ellis streets for parking. Do not direct any directional/geographical questions to me, as I'm just as clueless.
Given that there is a second tournament running after this, I'd like to be done at a reasonable hour. Registration at 8:30, start play at 9. If you want an invoice or some other "official" form indicating that you paid, let me know.

Assuming we stay at 16 teams, the format will be: 2 brackets of 8, followed by playoff brackets of 4, prelim records will be thrown out. In the playoffs, differences in record will stand. If there is a tie, there will be a one-game final. Any and all other ties in record will be broken via playoff PPB. If there is no final, and we have plenty of time, there may be an all-star game of sorts.
Is there a reason you wouldn't use ppg, considering that the teams within each playoff bracket will have played each other? I mean, I understand using ppb to determine who gets into a playoff bracket since the schedules were different, but why for final resolution?

I don't follow. For the prelim/playoff split, I plan to do 2/2/2/2 from each bracket. Within each bracket, ties in record would be broken by PPB. I apologize if this was not clear enough.
I got word from Lorin that its unlikely hes coming, and if he does, it will be as a solo player now, so that would seem to bring the team numbers to even.
