No basketball, Chicago Open is where I want hardcore quizbowl all weekend long.

Just a note about another possible side event:

My birthday is July 26 and I was planning on having a party sometime on Sunday night. Since a bunch of quizbowlers will be in Chicago that weekend, I figured I would invite anybody attending CO who would like to come. It will be in Chinatown probably.

I'll try to schedule it after Social Science (which I plan to moderate, having playtested many of the questions already), which hopefully won't go until 2 AM like Lit did last year.

I'd be interested in playing this if anyone will have me. I can get you points on Japanese stuff, and that's probably about it, sadly.

Seth Kendall has agreed to be the fourth with me, Billy, and Ahmad, which should give us the highest combined age for a team, unless Lorin Burte and Victor Rosenberg hook up with some teammates again. I've entered this in the google doc; I hope it took.

Quick Announcement: Trevor Davis has volunteered to serve as history editor for CO, and Jeff Hoppes has graciously agreed to provide assistance as needed. Don't forget, the first packet deadline is just over three weeks away.

Also, Seth Kendall, 12 line tossups on salt will not be tolerated.

Correct. The teams at this tournament will need 15-18 lines to differentiate our hardcore salt knowledge.

I would like to try and make it to this tournament...if there's a team I can play with. Science is probably the only category I can get a few questions in, though I'm not very good at it :(.

I can play basketball though :)

I have no idea if you're interested in playing with 2 16-year olds, but Tommy Casalaspi and I have formed a notably history deficient (we have music covered and are both working on filling in science, philosophy and SS holes by this time) team with two openings. If it helps, we will have pretty much finished writing and editing a regular difficulty tournament by this tournament, so Tommy at least will be a very good teammate for you.

I have finally been granted permission to come to this, if someone doesn't mind a not-especially-good fourth who can maybe pick up some humanities here and there. If it's too late for me to help out with someone's packet, I'll be content to just come and staff. Also, Katy, can I still room with you if we can find a third person (since me going remains contingent on finding females with which to stay)?

I am female, and I'd like to split a hotel with some people, so if you need an all-girls room, count me in. There's a slight chance I'll be staying with a friend, but since she lives in Evanston, I might opt for hotel for convenience's sake.

Hey people, consult the goddamn ACF formatting guidelines before submitting your packets. I'll give an hour or two of leniency on the deadline if it means you actually format your packet correctly. Do not group your tossups and bonuses by subcategory. All of the literature tossups, for example, should be together, followed by all of the bonuses. From the guidelines:
Group questions together by subject in the exact order that they appear in the distribution above, then sort within category by question type (tossup or bonus). I.e., literature tossups come first, followed by literature bonuses, then history tossups, then history bonuses, and so forth.
Also, since there's HSNCT this weekend, I'll extend the deadline like I did last weekend. Packets in by 11:59 PM CST tomorrow. Remember, this is the no penalty deadline.

Tim Hartman has written 12/12 (5/5 science, 5/5 history, & 2/2 religion/mythology) for my team already. I could write 12/12 (5/5 literature, 3/3 fine arts, 1/1 philosophy, 1/1 social science, 1/1 other academic, & 1/1 current events/trash) by Sunday, June 14. I do not expect our third player to write any questions for the first time. However, if I could outsource/sublet/farm some of my share to a free agent (e.g. Greg Peterson), we could get our packet submitted by Sunday, June 7.

Hey,

just so people know--I submitted the room reservation request for July 24th-26th, but the office in charge of summer room reservations in Harper isn't going to handle any summer room requests for at least another week or so. I'm supposed to get an email when they get to my request; when I hear something I'll post again. Hopefully this will happen in the next 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, there's still some chance we won't be able to get rooms for that weekend but I think we're probably going to be fine--the lady I spoke with looked around a bit and it seems that no other program has put in a request for rooms in Harper that weekend, so unless another student group put in a request for a bunch of rooms before I did I think we'll be fine.

Since playing with Ian hasn't worked out and I've realized that my unreasonable end of school year workload has left me unable to contribute to a packet anyway, I can staff this and will be interested in playing side events.

I will tentatively volunteer to help staff. I can't read, but anything else I'll be willing to help with.
