Class of 09, Where Will You Be Playing Next Year

Post by TheCzarMan »

Figure this would be a good place to discuss amongst ourselves acceptances, and where we'll be playing

Currently, schools I'm applied to where I would play QB are VCU (Accepted), Maryland, Delaware, and Rutgers. Other schools I've applied to I would attempt to start a program.

What about everyone else?

EDIT: Edited to reflect player destinations rather than just overall college talk.

So, just your annual reminder: saying where you're definitely going to go to college is a matter of general interest to the community. Saying where you've applied to college is rather less interesting. Listing all the places you have gotten in because you are proud of yourself is unseemly posturing. It's not bannable or anything, but think about why you're posting things and this thread will not degenerate into college admissions nonsense.

Yeah, these threads tend to blow an unseemly amount of tuchus.

Short version: saying where you have been accepted to college is of interest to people here if you are planning to play quizbowl in college, but not otherwise.

Good luck; it'll be good to have another NJ team around. I'm pretty sure MSU used to do CBI, and I know they get lots and lots of Bloomfield kids each year, so hopefully there'll be some interest.

Dan, you're right that Loyola Chicago doesn't have a team, but my wife, Ellen, is the student activity coordinator there and would be more than happy to help you start your club when you arrive on campus. It's very rare to have someone in a student activities office be aware and supportive of quizbowl. So even though you'll be starting from scratch, you'll likely have an easier start-up process than you might elsewhere.

Definitely. I'm (hopefully) going to stay till the end of every tournament, and I'm pretty sure they're not going to abandon me.

I'm (hopefully) going to get them to finally attend ACF events

P.S Anyone know why they won't attend ACF events? Is it because of the packet submission? Do they have a grudge against the organization?

I don't know much about their current players, but I doubt it's a philosophical grudge and more a lack of coordination in terms of packet submission. Anyway, I saw them play at NAQT this year and they have plenty of talent, so there's no reason Duke can't become a regional powerhouse. Good luck!
