Livingston (NJ) HS NAQT - March 28, 2009

Post by Guybo »

Livingston HS will be hosting an NAQT tournament this year on Saturday, March 28. This will be the first buzzer oriented tournament we have run and we should be able to have as many teams as rooms we have and buzzers that you all can provide - probably around 30-40 or so. More information and registration form to follow in the coming weeks.

You can email me ([email protected]) with your interest or respond below. Thanks. Have a nice holiday everyone.

According to NAQT's website, IS-81, which seems to conflict with Blue Hen

Yep. That stinks... especially because i know there are other sets we haven't (or will not have) played yet. Well, okay.

I noticed the set conflict with the Delaware tournament as well last night  and I'm checking with them to see if there is another one available for that date. Unofrtunately, I'm at the mercy of what NAQT will be able to provide and it's hard to find dates that work for us to be able to host. I guess Delaware is 2 hours or so away from us and they figure that it's not a regional conflict.

Thanks, Mike, by the way. Heard we had quite a tussle at Leonia the other day. Maybe you can give me some insgight into how to host with NAQT/buzzers. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) have a contact list of schools you sould send me? We'll look forward to seeing you guys at our place assuming we can get it off the ground.

By the way, I was unaware of this message board until I was informed about it earlier this week. Pretty cool.

Guy,

Welcome to the board!

As to your tournament, why not ask NAQT for 84A? I think that the closest school to use that will be State College in April.
Why don't you e-mail me this week and I will talk with you about the tournament.

- Mike

PS: Why not see what kind of response you get from this site? Also, if you will be attending Half Hollow Hills in January, bring some fliers? Pete Urban and Brother Nigel (and possibly Ed Bertolini) probably have the largest database for the NY/NJ area.

84A would actually be good for us too, since it's a 217-mile drive to State College and a 172-mile drive to you guys (you're right between Morristown and West Orange, right?), so we'd rather do that if we choose.

If you are unwilling to drop to a lower difficulty level, such as an A-set you could always get an HSAPQ set.

I did map this out once, and the only sets that Charter could hear at the Blue Hen are 81 or two level A sets (I think).

In the past, not too many New Jersey teams have attended the Blue Hen. Last year the number was zero, but Half Hollow Hills West and Kellenberg attended.

I do like the HSAPQ idea. In fact, I was considering extending the offer to host one HSAPQ set here at Charter in the spring if there were enough interested parties.

Having kept score for one round, I can say that individual stats were not kept. Here was the championship playoff bracket as far as I know (seeds were done strictly by PPG):

(1) Bergen Academies A over (16) Millburn B
(9) East Brunswick B over (8) Northern Valley A
(4) Seton Hall Prep A over (13) Moorestown
(5) St Joseph's A over (12) Chatham A
(2) East Brunswick A over (15) Newark Academy
(10) Hunter A over (7) High Point A
(3) Bergen Academies B over (14) Hunter B
(6) Millburn A over (11) Moravian A

(1) Bergen Academies A over (9) East Brunswick B
(4) Seton Hall Prep A over (5) St Joseph's A
(2) East Brunswick A over (10) Hunter A
(6) Millburn A 310, (3) Bergen Academies B 195

(1) Bergen Academies A 280, Seton Hall Prep A 245
(6) Millburn A over (2) East Brunswick A [by about 60 points from what I heard]

(1) Bergen Academies A 480, (6) Millburn A 120 [Watson went 5-6-1]
