12/6 GINVIT at the University of Minnesota

Post by theMoMA »

Please also see the announcement on the MQBA page for more detailed information.

This is the announcement for the University of Minnesota's traditional NAQT tournament, to be held on Saturday, December 6. GINVIT will be held at Blegen Hall, located at 269 19th Ave S, Minneapolis 55455, on the beautiful University of Minnesota Campus.

We will begin registration at 8:00 AM, with games starting whenever we are ready. Please make an effort to be as on-time as possible so that we can use our time to play quizbowl.

This tournament will use IS-77. Each team is guaranteed six games, though we might change that in the upward direction at some point, since we may change the format.

Here's the fee table (subject to minor changes):
$80: Per-team Fee
-$10: Each working buzzer system

Please contact me at [email protected] to register for the tournament, or if you have any questions at all about the tournament logistics, distribution, lodging suggestions, or anything else.

Stay tuned for periodic field updates, as well as more detailed logistics, such as start time, meeting room, etc.

The day after this, there'll be a college tournament at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, about a 4.5 hour drive from the Twin Cities.

Announcement is here.

South should be there with one or two teams. My coach will be in contact with you pretty soon.

Just as a question, is that Minneapolis North or North St Paul?

I'm not actually sure. I got this list from R. I would guess Mpls North.

Chaska beat Tonka in the final. Alex got first in individual, Sam got second.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the teams qualified for PACE NSC?
Also, congrats to Chaska and Minnetonka for their performances. The tournament was very well run and I was happy that every team had the opportunity to play 10 games.

I'll agree that this tournament was awesome, particularly because of the round-robin prelim/playoff brackets. It was nice to see that pretty much everyone stuck around to play the full ten rounds.

Will stats be up soon?

We were in Wisconsin on Sunday, but I'm sure we'll have the stats up tomorrow or Tuesday.

It was very enjoyable to read for this tournament and I thank all the teams I read for in regards to their patience for a few (minor) gaffes made along the way. Teams displayed, at least the ones I encountered, very fine sportsmanship and competitiveness.

In a minor but important point, I would like to just remind teams and coaches to stress to all players that there is no collaboration on toss-ups. This was only blatantly violated once when I read, but there were a few times when there were vaguely borderline instances of its violation. I'm assuming that inexperience may have been a factor, which is understandable.

Hey,

Sorry about the delay in stat posting. We recently realized that the stats were not saved properly; we do, however, have paper copies of the stats which we will be entering into SQBS as soon as possible.

Oh, that sucks... Good luck with that. Are you able to put the half-games and final round in as well?

So, here's the deal. We have rounds 1-6 saved, so it's not as bad as we thought it was. However, we all have finals starting tomorrow. I will do my best to ensure that the stats are posted by Friday night.

I hope that works with you guys. Sorry about the delays.

Hello

Thanks to Gaurav, we now have all the statistics entered into SQBS and available for all.

The Prelims can be found at this location, while the playoffs (including the 2nd place tiebreakers and finals) can be found here.

I have a feeling Chris might not be satisfied with the Prelim stats for some reason...

Only since Carsten brought it up.... My game against Hopkins B should have me with 5 10s, and Tianna with 0. If you want to fix that it'd be cool, but it doesn't really matter.

...Also please enable round report.

It's on on the second stats, so it shouldn't matter.
