To much popular demand, your intrepid authors RR and AB are here to bring you the first-ever History Player Ranking for the city of Chicago. Note that this is Chicago proper, so players who live in Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, and Minneapolis are not eligible. Sorry ahead of time for people we didn't know lived in Chicago or who we forgot about.
- Tejas Raje
Tejas is very, very good at history, especially world history (peep the WORLDSTAR stats!). He holds off #2 since closed UChicago practices means there's a dearth of available evidence on just how good Matthew is now. - Matthew Lehmann
The second-best classics player in his family and second-best history player on this list. - Sam Winikow
- Dan Puma
Neither of the previous two players show up to things, but they're still presumably huge history nerds who would do well at tournaments. - Ben Miller
Damn guess UChicago is still getting good first-years. - John Lawrence
Gets a history bump at Oxford Open. - Ike Jose
- Alston Boyd
Until Ike takes off for Japan, he remains on top of Alston. - Ryan Rosenberg
- Olivia Kiser
Both Olivia and I specialize in different narrow parts of Eastern European history -- not a recipe for raking in the points! - Tim Morrison
- James Lasker
Dual-wielders of science and history - Jonathan Wang
Very impressive as a first-year who didn't play qb in HS. - Nolan Winkler
- Kai Smith
uh Nolan probably still can buzz on HS stock clues, knew more of them than Kai once upon a time - Edgar Lin
Fun fact: Edgar was one of the most category-balanced players by BPA at CMST. - Grant Li
Didn't really need to learn much history on last year's TJ, but still a fine generalist. - Bryan Berend
Lots of general knowledge. Gave a cool presentation on quipus at work once. - Christine Gu
Deep knowledge of Chinese history. - Halle Friedman
Rounded into a solid humanities-focused generalist at low levels. - Adam Thorp
AB's current roommate and the former roommate of Athena/Marianna/RR, Adam hasn't played since HS but nonetheless has a lot of deep knowledge about American history, especially if it's in any way related to newspapers, St. Louis, newspapers, socialism, agrarianism, or newspapers. - Naomi Sweeting
Although she's best-known for being ridiculously good at math, Naomi is also a solid history player, especially on French things. - Kyle Asta
Kyle can get American history pretty reliably. - Alex Damisch
the detailed stats that Alex and I, uh, hand-compiled from SCT last year inform me that Alex went 1/2/0 on history. - Samir Khan
I don't know if I've ever seen Samir get a history tossup, but he fits the requirements otherwise!
