COMBINED WITH MIDWEST SITE: 2021 WORKSHOP Mirror at WUSTL -- Lower Midwest, Texas, + Rockies (3/27/21)

Post by bolshevik »

Howdy!

The Washington University Quiz Bowl team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Discord mirror of WORKSHOP on March 27, 2021. I, Em Powers, will serve as tournament director.

Rules + Eligibility
We'll be using the standard ACF gameplay rules and eligibility rules for this tournament. The only two important exceptions to these rules with regards to this tournament involve use of power-marks in the set and use of Ophir's advanced stats. As with many other online tournaments this year, players will be required to use a webcam in the Discord server at all times. If you need an exception/do not have access to a webcam, please let us know ahead of time. This tournament will serve the Texas, Lower Midwest, and Rockies regions -- same as IKEA-- so barring exceptional circumstances, only teams from these regions are eligible to play this tournament.

Registration:
To register for the tournament, please e-mail [email protected] with the following information:
-the name of the school
-how many teams you will be bringing
-how many players (and their names) you will be bringing
-how many staff members (moderators and scorekeepers) you will be bringing
-a phone number I can reach you at
The field will be capped at twelve (12) teams, after which a waitlist will form. Expansion of the field size is possible.

Question Set:
As dictated by the global announcement, this tournament is designated as medium-difficulty, meaning that the intended difficulty level is around that of ACF Regionals. It is intended to be accessible for the vast majority of teams, while still allowing highly experienced teams to play and enjoy the tournament. If desired, there is more information about WORKSHOP that can be found in the global announcement.

Fees:
The registration fees for the tournament are as follows:
+$100 for the base fee per team
-$15 for each staffer a team provides
*the minimum fee for a school is $50 for each team
We'll accept payments via check. You can make out checks to "Washington University Quiz Bowl."

Code of Conduct
The WORKSHOP team has handily provided a comprehensive code of conduct that everyone involved with this tournament must agree to and abide by.

If there are any additional questions or concerns about the tournament, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]! We look forward to hosting this tournament and we hope to see you there!
