I am pleased to announce that UT Austin will host the South site of the 2020 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 8, 2020. I will be the tournament director for this tournament, any questions can be directed to me at [email protected].
Location:
This tournament will take place at UT Austin. Exact details of which rooms we will use will be posted closer to the date of the tournament. Team sign-in morning of the tournament will be begin at 8:30 and the tournament will begin promptly at 9am.
Fees:
Base fees: $145 base fee for the first team from a school; $120 for second or subsequent teams
Discounts:
$10 discount per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
$40 discount per experienced moderator
$20 discount (per team) for schools new to quizbowl (neither competed in nor hosted SCT in 2018 or 2019)
$20 discount (per team) for teams that travel 200 or more miles one-way (distance measured from your campus to Austin by Google Maps)
Payment:
Will be taken at check-in on February 8. Payment will be accepted in cash, venmo, or check.

This tournament happened yesterday! Thanks so much to the all staffers who helped this tournament make it through 12 rounds in D1 and 14(!) rounds in D2 all before 6pm, especially to Nathaniel Woodward and Rachel Thibo for volunteering to help staff as guests.
In Division One, Texas A went 11-1 to win, and Rice A finished in 2nd. Rice A was the top finishing undergraduate team, and UT-Dallas was the 2nd place UG team. The top individual scorers in D1 were Ashwath Seetharaman from Texas A, Emmaline Alme from Rice A, and Abdullah from UT-Dallas.
In Division Two, Texas B went 12-0 to finish 1st and Texas A&M A went 9-3 to finish in 2nd. Top scorers in D2 were Tyler McStravick from Texas A&M A, Sendhil Sridhar from Texas B, and Deepak Muthyala from Texas A&M A.
