Attain the Summit 2 @McMaster - April 15, 2017
Hey everyone,
This is short notice, but this idea was only really born in the last week, and our rooms were only confirmed this week.
NEVERTHELESS!!!
You are all cordially invited to our very open, house-written Reach-style trivia event, which will be happening in under 2 weeks (Apr. 15)! The set is being written by myself and a number of my students, and will be edited by me. We are planning on having 12-15 packets, and will be charging $15/person, which works out to an amazing (approx.) $1/pack! We're looking for about 10ish teams (4 people per team if possible, please!), and we will play as many packets as possible. This'll be a good break in the midst of exams, and after a series of harder tournaments. This tournament is open to anyone (high school, university, graduate, beyond), and you don't even need to submit a pack! Proceeds are going towards the Westmount Reach for the Top Team, many of whose members are contributing packets and volunteering to staff.
Details:
Date: April 15, 2017
Time: #9AM-4pmish
Location: McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC) 2nd Floor
Team Cap: 12
Please bring buzzers if you have them, and bring good cheer! This should be a fun event to close out the QB regular season in Canada, and for some of you to scratch that Reach itch.
Hope to see you there!
Email me to register or to get any more information, @ [email protected]

I'd like to register a team!
Also, will there be a field cap for this event?
Edit: Joe has pointed out that it literally says "Team cap: 12" on your original post.

This is a missed opportunity to be the successor to UTS' April independent tournament. That tournament served as a Reach provincials preview, and Hamilton is in the middle of an area from London to Oshawa that covers about two thirds of a provincials field.

Re: Attain the Summit 2 @McMaster - April 15, 2017
FIELD UPDATE:
Team Retired
Westmount Intermediates
ADR et al.
Martingrove 1
Martingrove 2
Central RH 1
Central RH 2
Central RH 3
Challen (possibly short-handed)
Breslie (possibly short-handed)
White Oaks Alumni
Westdale
This gives us 12 teams, and at least 2-3 free agents (from what I've heard so far), and so our field is now full! If I've missed anyone, please let me know and we can fit you into a 13-team schedule if necessary.
At this point we have 6 guaranteed staff (the minimum), with at least 6 other potential staff. If you are not needed to staff on Saturday, consider yourself a free agent :)
Thanks for all of your support, and see you on Saturday morning!

Re: Attain the Summit 2 @McMaster - April 15, 2017
Thank you all so much for coming out today! From the looks of things, people seemed to enjoy themselves, and no team went either undefeated or win-less. We had some people playing for the first time, and others who had excessive amounts of experience. I would like to thank all of you who either submitted packets, offered to staff, brought buzzers, or helped to organize this tournament in anyway, and I would like to thank all of you for participating and tearing through most of these packets. Here are the stats from today:
1. ADR 13-1 6830pts (487.9ppg)
2. Martingrove Alumni 12-2 5980pts (427.1ppg)
3. Challen 11-3 5980pts (427.1ppg)
4. Martingrove 7-7 5260pts (375.7ppg)
5. CRH A 9-5 5090pts (363.6ppg)
6. Breslyingmond 8-6 4460pts (318.6ppg)
7. Westmount 5-9 4050pts (289.3ppg)
8. Free Agents 4-10 2530pts (180.7ppg)
9. Westdale 5-9 2670pts (190.7ppg)

R-value just because:
1. ADR 169.54%
2. Martingrove Alumni 152.62%
3. Challen 152.62%
4. Martingrove 137.35%
5. CRH A 117.07%
6. Breslyingmond 104.88%
7. Westmount 96.61%
8. Free Agents 63.51%
9. Westdale 59.84%
10. CRH C 64.64%
11. CRH B 56.17%
12. Retired 41.41%
I imagine it's just coincidence because of different team compositions, but MCI was 1.42X stronger than Westmount here, and MCI was 1.46X stronger than Westmount in Regionals.

This is no coincidence. The Westmount intermediates are exactly 0.04 stronger than the actual team.bsmith wrote: I imagine it's just coincidence because of different team compositions, but MCI was 1.42X stronger than Westmount here, and MCI was 1.46X stronger than Westmount in Regionals.

R-value is my equivalent to a SOS-based D-value or A-value for Reach. I convert it to a percentage of an average team as a personal preference.
