A Proposal for the PACE Mentorship Program

Post by Santa Claus »

The PACE Writing Mentorship Program provides an invaluable service for new writers. Here is a short suggestion for how it can potentially be changed to further improve the experience for mentees: hold it earlier.

With the current schedule, the program ends in mid-January. By this time, much of the set is written and smaller subdistributions may be entirely filled. Moving it up to happen during the summer could improve the number of mentee questions that make it into the final set, which is both a nice reward for the writer and a way to reduce repeats. It could also provide more opportunity for graduates to continue to contribute.

I am not particularly aware of any logistical reasons that would interfere with this. I will note, though, that the decision would have to be made more or less immediately to be in time for next year's NSC.

Thanks for making this suggestion, Kevin. We'll discuss implementing this after NSC weekend is over.
