Groger Ranks has recruited a team of middle schoolers which currently consists of Ethan Xu from Liberty Middle School, Jordan Lee from Baldwin Arts and Academics Magnet, Pavan Venkatakrishnan from Odle Middle School, and Yash Choudhury from Taylor Road Middle School to create rankings for the middle school division. Our first set of middle school rankings can currently be found at ... sp=sharing and will be moved to as soon as possible.

The rankings will be using this formula to calculate scores:
(((10 * Adjusted Powers per Game) + (4 * Adjusted Points per Bonus))/2 - Negs/Game)
Our baseline for adjustments will be NAQT’s Middle School Series #27 and we will make adjustments for subsequent sets accordingly. This formula makes it so that a team that gets 10 adjusted Powers per Game (aP/G) will get 50 points for the power section, and a team with 25 adjusted Points per Bonus (aPPB) will get 50 points in the bonus section. Teams with an aPPB of less than 17 are not ranked, and due to this formula, tournaments that do not run powers/negs and/or three-part bonuses will not be included in our rankings.

As we prepare for our initial release, we have run into issues with making our rankings as encompassing as possible. If you can provide us with information about middle schoolers playing high school tournaments/sets please don’t hesitate to send us an email at [email protected] as we want our rankings to be as rigorous as possible and will do our best to incorporate those results into our rankings.

Hello everyone! After releasing our initial set of rankings we realized we had entered some statistics in incorrectly. In the next few hours we will be updating the rankings accordingly. Thank you for your patience.

Will high school sets played on by middle schoolers be taken into account in these rankings?

Yes. We will be incorporating HS sets into our rankings, but due to insufficient knowledge of what teams are playing these sets, this endeavor will take a bit longer than expected. On a similar note, if you can provide us with information about any instances of middle-schoolers playing high school sets please take the time out to email us at [email protected] We need this information to make as accurate adjustments as possible and look forward to any assistance that can be provided.
