2019 Hsqb Midseason Poll

Many players would agree that pure mathematical rankings can’t tell the full story about any given team's strengths and weaknesses. Each team has a unique story and personal character which cannot be gleaned off of a mere look at a stats page. This is why we believe player-submitted polls are crucial; people from across the country can put in their voice as who they see as the top teams and more important, why. For this reason, the midseason poll, long a staple in national discussion, is a void that we at Groger Ranks would like to fill. To help participate, just fill out this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... sp=sf_link, rank who you believe are the top 25 teams, and write a justification so that we can verify your knowledge of the circuit and understand your picks. On January 20, we will release the results along with brief writeups based on your justifications!

Some quick notes:
-You don't have to be a high schooler to vote.
-However, votes that do not attempt coherent justification for picks may be removed (though not publicly.) This does not mean that we will penalize ballots with "hot takes" - just that we expect any takes to be backed up with solid reasoning.
-There is an option to anonymize your ballot if you so choose.

With that out of the way,
Happy voting!

When filling out this poll, please do not abbreviate team names at all. Specifically, please use the name of the team as it appears in the offical standings for last year's HSNCT (https://www.naqt.com/stats/tournament/s ... nt_id=8400.) In addition, please put a letter with every team, even if you don't think it needs it. For example, Stevenson should be input as Adlai E. Stevenson A. This is for ease of compilation of rankings. Thank you for voting!

Reminder: only one day left to submit your ballot
If you were sitting on a ballot but haven’t submitted it yet or
completely forgot about the poll entirely, it’s not too late!

(It’ll close at 11:59 PM eastern time so you’ll have all of tomorrow as well)

Bravo to you all for taking this on. Am I correct in assuming you plan to run additional polls in the future (e.g., before nationals)? If so, I'm happy to pass you the pollster baton. If you'd like any assistance or guidance, let me know.

Wayzata A seems wildly overranked here, considering that they have no player that plays science, philosophy, social science or a significant portion of religion and mythology well.

We discuss this in the podcast.
