Chicago Open date poll

Post by grapesmoker »

As the likely (about 90% or so) editor of Chicago Open, I'm going to get a start on organizing this year's event. The first thing is to decide the date, which will be the purpose of this thread. Likely candidates include the 17th, 24th, and 31st of July for the main event (with the understanding that some side events will take place on Friday, as well as CO trash on Sunday), so I have put those options into the poll. If there is a strong push for an August date being added, I could do that. You may vote for any of the options or all of them.

I would appreciate it if people would use whenisgood.net to respond to this poll. It's much nicer than the built-in poll on the forums and doesn't require registration or anything. Just go here: http://whenisgood.net/k3s73j , enter your name and mark the dates you can attend.

While people are welcome to take such things into consideration, I have to say that unless there's an clear preference for a single date, I'll probably pick whatever I imagine works best for me, which may or may not coincide with any of the above.

All the same, you and others might want to check hotel prices and stuff in light of when Pitchfork and Lolla are.

Good point. My favorite date right now is the weekend of the 23rd-25th, so that should make it possible to avoid those things. Please vote!

Anyone know if Berkeley is planning on hosting a mirror of this again this year?

We'd probably be interested in hosting a mirror, but there are no plans that I know of.

The overwhelming consensus appears to be headed towards the weekend of July 23rd through 25th. I don't see the names of some likely attendees in the survey yet, so I'm going to give it some time before I call an end to the voting. Maybe a few more weeks? Is it crucial for you to know the date now? It seems that unless too many things change, that weekend will probably be it, but I want to get more responses from potential attendees.

Any progress on this? I'd like to have the flexibility to book my plane ticket sooner rather than later so a firm date would be great.

If no strong push for another date comes before this weekend, it will be the 26th.

Hey, if you haven't voted in the poll yet, please do so unless you don't care about when the tournament will be.
