Corrections and Feedback

Post by millionwaves »

Hey, guys,

I've already heard back from a few people about some minor errors in the set (The protagonist of Black Mischief is not the emperor of Arizona, no matter what I somehow read in Masterplots; there is no such person as "Herbert Melville".) If you can point out anything more than that, let me know here or via e-mail to [email protected] and I'll correct it before the field at Wash U hears the packets this next Saturday and we upload them for posterity.

Also, if you want any feedback on questions that you submitted in my categories, or want to hear my logic for making cuts or changes or anything else I did to your questions during editing, I'll reiterate that I'd be be happy to answer whatever questions you have.

I was negged for giving the correct answer to the tossup on Gauguin's Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? The answer provided has the title as Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we going?, If I remember correctly.

This is a problem that I noticed while looking at the set today.

Another small art issue was that there were no listed alternative answers for the Parmigianino TU. Parmigianino, Parmigiano, Francesco Mazzola, and the one from Parma should all have been acceptable.

"A Hero's Life" should be an acceptable translation for Ein Heldenleben.

It actually shows up as both, so you should have gotten the points.

I just wanted to note that for two packets the unedited versions of my questions were accidentally put in, so there were a few repeats because of that. Fortunately the original unedited submissions that were accidentally put in the final packets rsather than the edited tossups were generally pretty good so the quality of the set as not affected too much.

One factual error that I was reminded of when skimming packets is a question claiming Raoul Wallenberg is one of two people to recieve Honorary U.S. Citizenship. I knew it was more than 2, and wikipedia says the number is up to 7. The other factual error I remember was a question that said Birdman was Lil' Wayne's father.
