Hello,

I have updated the above post. We have 6 teams for sure as of now. The status of a 3rd house team will likely depend on the status of the UM Morris team and B/C teams from Carleton. All in all, we will likely not have more than 8-9.

I will post information regarding schedules and stuff a few days prior to the event.

Thank you,
Gautam

This is the email I sent out yesterday:

Hello all,

This is what I have for a final field update:

Lawrence: 1 team, 1 buzzer
Iowa: 1 team, 1 buzzer
Eden Prairie HS: 1 team, 0 buzzers
House: 2-3 teams, 2+ buzzers
Carleton: Likely 2 teams, 0 buzzers
Morris: 1 team

If you have any buzzers that haven't been accounted for over here, I request that you bring them to the tournament and avail the discounts. You can simultaneously ensure that we don't run critically low on buzzer supplies.

Start Time:
Checkin will begin at 8:30 AM in Room 105 of Blegen Hall. This is a classroom located on the first floor of Blegen Hall. At around 8:55, we will go over the format of the tournament. Games will begin as soon after 9 AM as possible.

Format:
We are currently planning on a 9-team round robin format that will allow us to have 8 prelim games per team. After that, we will likely collapse one of the house teams and divide the field into a Top bracket and a bottom bracket. Lunch will occur after round 6 or 1 PM, whichever comes earlier. Even if it takes 40 minutes per round, we should all be out by 6 PM.

Parking:
You are advised to park at the following locations: 19th Avenue Ramp <http://www1.umn.edu/twincities/maps/19Ramp/> , and 21st Avenue Ramp <http://www1.umn.edu/twincities/maps/21Ramp/>. On weekends, the rate is usually $5.25 per day.

Finances:
I will send out electronic copies of invoices to you based on the information you have provided me so far. A physical copy will also be provided at the tournament so that all formalities can be cleared. As a reminder, cheques should be made out to "University of Minnesota."

Please email me back if you would like me to clarify anything.

All,

To recap, the UMN incarnation of ACF Winter 2010 occurred, with 9 teams in attendance. There were round-robin prelims; Minnesota Candy-licker (Brendan) went 8-0; Carleton A and Minnesota Candle-car (Gautam, Matty, Scott) went 6-2; and EPHS went 5-3 (narrowly edging out Lawrence in the tiebreaker) to make it to the top bracket. Brendan cleared the field in the upper bracket as well, and won this mirror of ACF Winter. Overall stats can be found here: http://bit.ly/6mw5z7

I thank all teams for coming and making this event successful. I apologize for the half-hour delay in starting the playoffs; had we known that the doors were going to automatically lock, we would have been more vigilant about ensuring that someone stayed within rooms at all times to avert delays. I hope that didn't hinder anybody from enjoying the playoff rounds.

I also thank Andrew, Rob, Bernadette, Lauren, and Joe for reading at this event, and for the editors for producing a quality set. Of course, I would be remiss if I forgot to thank the gracious Chris Carter for helping us out with stats and for walking across the river to bring our emergency buzzer set, and Scott Miller, for bringing a much needed printer.
