Forgot to mention in the original post (may get edited in there at some point) - there's a $50 discount for high school teams, and their minimum fee is $50/team.

Running field update:
Confirmed:
UIUC - 2 teams
Chicago - 4 teams

Expressed interest:
Lawrence
UIC
Arlington Heights Home for Academics

We've got plenty of moderators so far, but NIU doesn't own any buzzers of our own. Keep that in mind for your registrations :)

We'll be able to unattend, but assuming I can get a ride from Egan or Laird I can come and help moderate, scorekeep, whatever.

I just heard about this event last weekend at the EFT 4 mirror at UIUC. Since the UIC campus quiz-bowl tournament will be in two weeks, I may even be able to bring some teammates this time, but you can always count on me at least. How long has THUNDER been happening? I can bring a UIC lockout system which I repaired to 8/8 strength last Saturday during the lunchbreak; moreover, I can bring my same loner CPS Dell laptop which was able to access the UIUC wireless network last Saturday. Will this tourney be paperless as much as possible? I noticed no discounts for laptops.

Happy early Columbus Day (on both a Monday & the 12th!),

We got a lot of volunteers to moderate (the moderator discount is now off because of this) but we are currently short a laptop. In your case, therefore, we can give you a mod discount for providing the computer.

Look two posts up, sure did.

Also, could we get a bit more information about the location (building e.t.c) and when teams need to show up?

We now have official room reservations (woohoo!) in DuSable Hall. If you attended Huskie Bowl in February, it's the same building. We strongly suggest parking in Lot 20/C (refer to this Parking map), which, on Saturdays, is absolutely free and practically empty.

We're looking at doing registration from 8-8:45, starting round one at 9 AM. At the moment, the field looks like...
UIUC (3)
Chicago (4)
UIC
Eureka
Arlington Heights Home for Academics

If a flurry of last minute registrations comes in, we are capping the field at 12 teams.

Kristin's got the information on who's bringing buzzers, but it looks for now like we are need of some. If you've got a buzzer system you can bring, please do and enjoy the discount!

I will not be able to bring UIC's other lock-out system this weekend after all. It was not even needed during this week's campus academic quiz tournament, yet it is out of my hands indefinitely, maybe permanently. I think it's high time I bought my own outright. Any suggestions on a model that would be easy to fly with? My CPS laptop is home with me now.
