ACF Regionals Southwest at Tulsa (2/28/09)

Post by jazzerpoet »

Greetings, everyone! I am pleased to announce that the University of Tulsa Academic Bowl Team will be hosting ACF Regionals Southwest, for the third consecutive year. The tournament will take place on Saturday February 28th in Chapman Hall on the TU campus.

Fees and Discounts
Base Fee: $120 (per team)
Operational Buzzer System: -$5 (no limit)
Volunteers: -$10 (no limit)
Laptop: -$5 (max of 1 per team)
Travel Discount: -$10/per 200 miles (one-way)
International Teams: -$20
New ACF Teams: -$25
New Quiz Bowl Teams: -$75
High School Teams: -$50 (ineligible for New ACF or New Quiz Bowl team discounts)

As this is an official ACF tournament, packet submission is required for all teams with at least one member who has more than two years of collegiate, academic experience; that is, if you played in an academic tournament prior to the Fall 2007 semester (September 1st, to be exact), you are required to submit a packet.

Packet Deadlines
January 4: -$50
January 18: -$25 (-$50 for optional packets)
February 1: No Penalty (-$25 for optional packets)
February 8: +$25
February 15: +$50

If you do not make special arrangements with the editors, and you do not submit a packet by Sunday February 15th, you will not be allowed to play. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Also, please take special note of the formatting rules for packet submissions.

Difficulty
ACF Regionals is intended as a regular-difficulty tournament. Please look at ACF Regionals 2008 as an example of the target difficulty of this tournament. If you unsure about whether or not a particular answer choice is appropriate for this tournament, please contact the editors, and they will let you know.

For more detailed information, from packet submission guidelines to formatting, please view the following website:

<http://www.acf-quizbowl.com/documents/packetsub.php>

Also, please submit your completed packets to Jonathan Magin: jsmagin (at) yahoo (dot) com

To register, or if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Also, if finances are an issue, please let me know, and we will work something out. I hope to see many of you in Tulsa at the end of February. Thanks.

Cheers!

We weren't able to get a packet together for this, so it doesn't look like we'll be able to make it. Sorry to have to cancel again.

If you get a chance, could you enter in which packets you used for which rounds?
