Chicago Open Literature Doubles

Since last year's CO Literature side tournament went over pretty well, I'd like to gauge interest in another literature doubles written by mostly the same people for this year's Chicago Open. The target difficulty would be the same as last year's, and we'd aim for at least 13 packets of 20 tossups. If you're interested in writing for this event, or have any questions about it, please email me at jmagin AT umd DOT edu.

In terms of logistics, I'd be for a slightly shorter main event CO (like 12 rounds + finals) in order to make this tournament not go as crazily late as last time if this will again be on Saturday night. It's maybe not as bad playing, but it was really getting on me in the later rounds of reading this tournament.

So, assuming this tournament starts at a reasonable hour (preferably around 7), I'd be up for moderating.

I've never had more fun at a tournament than at the original lit singles, so of course I'm up for another.

Yeah, what the hell, I'll play this one, though I did have a ton of fun reading until like 2 am last year.

Of course, I want to compete in literature doubles. To date, my only tournament victory was last fall's literature doubles at the Illinois Open, but I could not have won that tourney without riding the coattails of Jonathan Magin. At least, I am no longer the Anna Kornakova of ACF.

I don't think this is an official sign-up or anything, but I'll definitely want to play, now that I have studied up on the works of Rasipuram Kirshnaswamy Narayan.

Of course I'm playing this, and one cannot deny that part of the charm of last year's event was how late it went, so I oppose any shortening of CO.

I'm still not sure how those running the various side events of the CO want us to sign up--whether in these threads or by direct contact--but since people continue to chime in here, I also want to play. And I think my teammate is William "The Borsht Belt Beast" Beyer.

Atleast two people from the dorman contingent will play in this (Nick and Todd) and the other two may form a team (Freddy and myself).

I still aspire to win my second consecutive literature doubles title (but without Jonathin Magin), and I would like to compete with either Tim Hartman from last summer or Brian Sobolak, my best teammate from CBI Nationals. If interested players significantly exceed the numbers of packets and moderators, could we expand to triples or even quadruples? Last summer, Tim and I could not stay for the playoffs well after midnight, and I want to be alert for the trash scrimmage, social science/philosophy moderating, and hopeful movie rounds in some order on the following Sunday.

Quiz bowl has exclamation points, you just need to look in the right spot. For instance, there were all kinds of them in Jerry's critique of VETO!
