2020 NAQT SCT North @ Minnesota - 2/8/20

Play Quiz Bowl LLC will be directing the North site of the 2020 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Location:

This year's SCT North will be at the University of Minnesota. Games will be held at Folwell Hall - note that this is *not* at Blegen Hall, the longtime venue for tournaments at UMN.

Question Set and Eligibility:

This tournament will have two divisions, which will be played on their corresponding SCT sets. These will use rounds of 22 tossups and 22 bonuses, and will be untimed.

Eligibility rules can be found at NAQT's website. In short, players are eligible for Division 2 as long as they have not either played ICT or played on a team that qualified for ICT. All players on a team must be Division 2 eligible in order for the team to play in Division 2.

Format and Rules:
The tournament will use NAQT's rules, and run using one of NAQT's approved SCT formats (exact details TBD, depending on the field size).

Fees and Discounts:
$145 base fee for the first team from a school; $120 for second or subsequent teams
- $10 discount per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)
- $20 discount (per team) for "new" schools (defined as having not competed in or hosted in 2018 or 2019)
- $20 discount (per team) for teams that travel 60 or more miles one-way, as measured by Google Maps
- $40 discount per experienced moderator (TD approval is required)

I'll be sending out invoices a week or so before the tournament, which can be paid by check, cash, card, or Venmo in person, or online before the tournament.
