ACF Fall 2018 South Mirror @ LASA (11/3/18)

LASA Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce the South site of ACF Fall 2018, to be held at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy in Austin on Saturday, November 3, 2018. This is a mirror for college teams, and will be held on the LASA campus at the same time as the high school mirror at the same site.

Tournament check-in will begin at 8.15am, and rounds should begin at 9am. Tournament format will depend on field size, but all teams will be guaranteed at least 10 rounds.

Registration
Registration for this event has two steps:
First, please write to me at [email protected] with school name, number of teams, and buzzer/staffer information. This allows our site to know that you're attending, so that we can plan our event.
Second, fill out the central ACF Fall registration form with all the relevant information.

Fees
Base fee: $135
Buzzer: -$5/functional system
Staffers: -$10/staffer
Shorthanded fee (teams of 1 or 2 players): $60

Packet Discounts/Penalties
Any team with at least one person on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament prior to September 1, 2017 is required to submit a half-packet.

Half-packet templates will be sent out to your team after you have submitted the registration form. If you have questions on the submission guidelines, email them to [email protected] and they'll clarify.

Please submit packets to [email protected] and use “ACF Fall 2018: [Team Name]” in the subject line.

Submission Schedule
September 8: -$30
September 22: -$15 (-$30 if optional)
October 6: no penalty (-$15 if optional)
October 13: +$25
October 20: +$50
Packets submitted later than October 20 will receive an additional penalty.

Payment
Payment for ACF Fall will be processed through ACF.

Moderators
We are seeking moderator assistance for this event; we can offer moderators breakfast, lunch, and a small honorarium for their help. If you're interested in reading, please let me know.

Note Regarding High School Teams
High school teams are no longer allowed to compete in Collegiate ACF Fall events. High schools interested in playing ACF Fall 2018 at this site are encouraged to check out the post for that tournament. The high school and college tournaments will run concurrently but the fields will not cross over.

We will be sending out a full logistics email at some point in the next 36 hours, but the current plan is to begin registration on Saturday morning at 8am and to begin rounds by 8.30am. All games will be held on the second floor of the Liberal Arts and Science Academy, located at 7309 Lazy Creek Dr., Austin, TX 78724. We are working on lunch plans right now, but given LASA's location and the lack of food options nearby, we will look to have something delivered to campus for lunch.

Also, please feel free to get in touch if you would like recommendations for places to stay and / or eat while you're in Austin. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you at LASA on Saturday.
