Reading old Imaginary Landscape packets in the QB Discord

Post by hftf »

I will read some previous Imaginary Landscape packets for fun on the quizbowl Discord channel. It is intended for anyone who missed the chance to play them, and for me to test out a new bot for reading audio packets.

If you're interested in playing, fill out this form with the times that work for you. If you have a preference for which packets to do, leave a comment on the form. I will announce a chosen time after receiving some responses.

There are three Imaginary Landscape tournaments, each with 8 packets of 20 audio tossups. More information about them can be found in these three threads.

I will read Imaginary Landscape No. 1 starting at 6 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 15, and Imaginary Landscape No. 2 starting at 7 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, May 16. Unfortunately I can't accommodate everybody in all timezones.

Each packet will take about 25 minutes. I will read for as long as there are still people who want to play.

Thanks Ophir for doing this!
I wanted to add that I will be reading a so-called Music Mafia Tournament (MMT) immediately after tomorrow's reading of IL2, consisting of 30 powermarked vanity tossups ranging from the Baroque to the present day. The difficulty on these will range from around Nats-level to CO+, although most of them will have more accessible answerlines.

I assume this means it won't be at a reasonable time for people across the pond :(

If enough people in the UK are interested, I could read it around 6:00 EST on the IRC. That might also work better for some Americans. If you have a strong preference either way, PM me.

I will be in attendance for all of these.

MMT will probably happen around 11 EDT on the IRC, or whenever the IL packet is done. If there's interest I will do another reading at some point.

We laughed, we cried, we buzzed late on opera, and the Lawrence alumni came out swinging from the woodwork. Thanks so much to Ophir and the writers! It was a lot of fun!

some would call them "late buzzes" while the brits would call them "difficulty cliffs"
