Would people like to do another postseason roundtable to discuss the teams this year?

We came 8th at Nats and Berkeley A came 9th, not the other way around.

You're right, I was looking at the wrong stats. I'll correct the rankings.

I've got five ballots in, but would obviously like more.

I feel this thread shouldn't go without discussion, hence I shall present some theses.

1) Columbia should be ranked very highly. As much as Columbia wasn't really a super cohesive team this year, they put up really good numbers at both nationals. They managed to get fourth place at ACF Nationals while missing a member of their A-team (beating Chicago and Michigan along the way) and took 9th at ICT after an upset to McGill. Looking towards next year, it's worth noting that this team stays together and Kevin Koai is still around if they can fish him out - I think they'll be looking to build on their finish.

2) Missouri and WUSTL about as good as, or better than, several teams they got ranked below mid-season. These teams are both led by well-rounded good players with specialty areas in which they scale up very well (history for Charles, myth/lit/visual art for Itamar) and ability to scale breadth-wise as well. I also think it's worth factoring in that Itamar only got to play ICT, which is a weaker distribution for him than mACF.

3) The Canadians proved themselves. This goes beyond McGill sneaking into the top bracket - Toronto getting 11th and 14th at Nationals shouldn't be overlooked, especially in light of the fact that they were ranked 24th beforehand. Their stats weren't stunning or anything, but it's getting the W that counts.

I'd like to point out that Oklahoma didn't have our full lineup at ICT as our second-best player Maia was studying abroad this semester

McGill - honestly I have no idea how good we are, I don't even know which three of us would make the best support for Derek. We made the top bracket because of some untimely negs from the opponents and because Louisville was missing Kurtis. Simulate a hundred ICTs with the same field but different prelims and I think we're top 3rd bracket most of the time?

More concretely, Derek outperformed Charles in the morning with twice the powers with the same other opponents and more contribution from teammates.

Toronto - Toronto is probably better than the numbers suggest, they incredibly prone to self-destruction if things don't go their way or are suffering from a lack of food/sleep. They could have easily come 2-5 at Nats prelims but instead recovered. With their shits together, even without learning more things, they could do a lot better.

I can't imagine a team that doesn't do better or worse depending on their mood and how much sleep they got.

Berkeley B's top bracket run looks very compelling - knocking off Northwestern after their cinderella run and Penn for good measure, wish I had a chance to do that at my first Nats. Seems like a substantially different team from the one that placed 18th at ICT as well.

I think it's at least worth mentioning the difference in roster, with a veteran Michael Coates playing down on B at Nats. Actually, the only player on Berkeley B at both nationals was Eric Chen, so yeah, definitely a substantially different team than the one seen at ICT.
