Oxford Open mirror at NYU 03/25/17

Hi all,

As previously discussed, there are plans to have a mirror of Oxford Open at NYU on Saturday, 3/25/17.

Registration: Email me to register a team or if you want to see the team formation spreadsheet. Or if you can staff! That would be awesome.
Fees: $40 (mirror fee) + $5 (to pay the staffers)

We are also thinking about running the FLOREAT film set some time during the day. (edit: Scattergories is another option, or whatever else people are interested in)

Any possibility of a Scattergories mirror in addition to, or instead of, FLOREAT? I'd like to play Scattergories if it's mirrored; otherwise I can staff FLOREAT.

For what it's worth Scattergories has 2 film Qs included in the distribution.

I assume this is completely open? I guess I'm not sure because you said "formal" mirror.

Sorry - I meant in the sense that we may or may not have bye teams reading depending on the staffing situation, so a minor caveat emptor. Of course it will be open.

Here is the final field:

Ahmed/Cohen/Lai/Zhuang
Rutgers
Penn
Alston/Mukherjee
Bobrow
NYU
Columbia
Vinokurov/White/Yu

------------------------

We have the rooms confirmed, so are there any other teams thinking about forming that haven't gotten in touch yet? Are there teams that would be interested but prefer to play the Cambridge set, don't like the idea of potential bye staffing, or something else? I'm assuming it's not the cutthroat fee that's deterring anyone.

Is there a sign-up/team formation sheet for Scattergories? Any word on format?

I just updated the final field. Note that Sameen will be directing the tournament.
After the main tournament, we're planning to run Scattergories (first) and then Floreat, time permitting.
See you all Saturday.

I will send out an email either later tonight or tomorrow with details about when to be here, where the tournament will be held, etc.

Peter is correct, WAO Fantastic Baby cleared the field to win the tournament. The team of Richard Yu, Jerry Vinokurov, Chris White and Jon Pinyan came in second.

Thanks to everyone who came out to play and a special thanks to York Chen and Peter Jiang for helping staff. Richard Yu also deserves a lot of praise for just taking the initiative to put this tournament together and for helping the NYU team organize and plan for the tournament throughout the entire way. Hope everyone had fun.
