EFT @ UCSD (10/08/2016)

Quiz Bowl at UCSD is happy to announce a site of Early Fall Tournament (EFT) on October 8th, 2016. The target difficulty of the set is "somewhat easier than collegiate regular," which is to say, "if ACF Fall is a 3 and ACF Regs is a 6, most questions should hover around 4.5-5." Several members of the UCSD club are writing for EFT, and we are excited to see the questions played by the level of competition in Southern California. The exact location on campus is TBD, but expect rounds to start at 9 AM and continue until about 6 PM. As usual, the tournament will likely take place in either the Humanities and Social Sciences building or Center Hall, both of which have plenty of immediately adjacent free parking on the weekends.

Fees Structure:
Base Fee: $120/team
Discount for each capable moderator with working laptop: -$15/mod
Working Buzzer discount: -$10/buzzer
Travel discount: -$5 per 50 miles one way
Minimum fee: $60/team

UCLA A cleared the field yesterday by going undefeated during the 9 game round robin prelim and then winning all 3 playoff games for 1st place. Westview got second with a 9-3 record.

Some notes on stats:
-UCLA B left after the prelims, and thus forfeited all their playoff games
-UCSD A and B were combined into one team for playoffs (one from each team left after prelims) to make playoffs bracketing cleaner and ensure one more game for every remaining team in the field. This means slightly more complicated individual stats in both this SQBS stat report and the detailed stat report with individual and team conversion data (released to every player that has already attended a mirror of EFT).
