Since this has gotten underway already, I think it's better that people be transparent about who they plan on playing with at this year's Chicago Open. I've created a team-formation spreadsheet to help with this - it can be accessed here.

Hold still, I'm gonna split the thread.

EDIT: Done. Team formation discussion can go in this thread; discussion and negotiation of an editing team is now here.

I'm worthless and old, but a team might have some use for me. Send me offers!

If not, I'll wind up reading and writing editors' questions, and I think we can all agree none of us want that.

I am not very good at CO-level material, but I should still be able to get a decent amount of questions as the day goes on. Let me know if you want to team up, especially if we've never played a tournament together before!

I'm pretty shitty at high level quizbowl but I'd like to play this tournament. Hit me up if you're interested.

If you're looking for someone who writes quickly and can guarantee a solid 4 ppg, hit me up. My strong areas include ACF Fall-level myth, folk music, and Olympic sports.

I'll be looking for a team too if Caleb goes, since one of us will be the other's ride. I can contribute next to nothing, but you might be surprised by my "lit that no one reads except my sadistic professor" knowledge.

My wife Bryn and I would like to play Chicago Open this year. We have something like a 4 tournament winning streak and are in no danger of continuing that streak in Chicago, but we'll be pleasant to spend a day with. Feel free to contact me if interested!

I'm fairly certain I'll be doing this. I'm good at some things.

I'm planning to play again this year, you should pick me to join you because I'm personable and our packet will be the best dressed packet.

With Will's go-ahead, the editors have updated the sheet somewhat to fill in some discrepancies between official registrations and the unofficial team formation sheet. This is an additional reminder as well that each team must BOTH register using the official form AND submit a packet to be officially counted in the field; merely typing in the sheet above does not constitute any step towards registering.

Chris Borglum, Billy Beyer, and I are looking for another teammate, preferably someone who is fun to play with and will get a few questions. Slide into my inbox if you think that can be you!

Sam Braunfeld and I are looking for teammates. I've already written math and bio tossups that are too hard for anything other than CO so our packet is already 1/24 finished!! We do not know history AT ALL.

I'm looking for a team. What little I answer will likely be history.

The Oklahoma team has dropped from the CO field. This means we have the very inconvenient number of 19 teams, which would force us to use a pretty contorted schedule with multiple byes for some teams. (A full round robin is currently not an option given scheduling constraints.) We're reasonably sure that all other teams are still attending and are either at work on their packets or already in the position of having submitted theirs; if a representative from the Schindler and Zhang teams could email [email protected] right quick, we can confirm that for real.

This means that we are looking for a 20th team to enter the CO field! If you were on the fence about playing, but are available on Saturday the 23rd in Chicago (perhaps for CO Trash the following day???), please let us know and put yourself down on the spreadsheet above and we can work something out if needed. It'd result in a much more convenient schedule if we had one more team, even if it's only one or two people.

(We are still on the lookout for experienced staffers as well; please use the chicagoopen2016 address to get in contact with us about that too.

We are still hoping that some more free agents might be available to play Chicago Open on a 20th team, which will make our schedule work more efficiently. This team would be packet-exempt. Contact [email protected], CCing Dan Passner at [email protected], if interested.
