NAQT SCT at Youngstown State, 7 Feb 2015

Post by MahoningQuizBowler »

In cooperation with the Honors Council at Youngstown State University, I'm happy to host the Great Lakes site of NAQT's SCTs again this season.

The fees and discounts associated with this SCT site are standard; if you need a reminder, they are here: http://www.naqt.com/registration/fees.j ... nt_id=6327

To register, click here: https://www.naqt.com/registration/regis ... nt_id=6327

All matches, unless the field grows to a very large size, will take place in DeBartolo Hall. Please note that this is different from the DeBartolo Stadium Club, which is not accessible to the public. A campus map is available here: http://web.ysu.edu/gen/ysu_generated_bi ... ap2010.pdf

A note about parking: if you intend to park in the M-2 deck, which has entrances from both Fifth Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, only the Fifth Avenue one is attended. The Lincoln Avenue entrance is keycard only. Parking is $5 for the day. There is very little free parking around campus, but you can try Lincoln Avenue in front of Beeghly College of Education if you arrive early enough. This is neither guaranteed nor recommended, however.

Campus will be very full that day as it is also hosting National Ocean Sciences Bowl. Places to eat are up and down Lincoln Avenue, in addition to Taco Bell and McDonalds on Fifth Avenue and whatever will be open in the student center.

I will personally invoice teams if needed for fees. Checks should be made out to me. Cash is acceptable. PayPal is negotiable. Credit cards are not accepted. Purchase orders are a pain in the butt, but I will take them if it is required by your school's policies. Teams that cannot pay by the day of the tournament must contact me in advance to let me know of their situation so a resolution can be reached.

Good luck, and I hope to see many of you in the Steel Valley in February!

Thanks to Greg Bossick and everyone else at Youngstown State for running a very fun (if slightly long) tournament!

In case anyone was wondering... results from the DI double round robin were (I think): MIchigan 12-0, MSU 8-4, Kenyon 8-4, CMU 7-5, Michigan B 4-8, Wright State 3-9, and OSU 0-12. MSU defeated Kenyon in the Undergraduate final. The top four teams in DII were CMU, Pitt, MIchigan, and Wright State (I think in that order).

Thanks, Andrew.

I have a few scorekeeping bugs to work out in the stats, but the full posting should be made this evening.

Is the reason that Kenyon is highlighted as opposed to MSU A just a mistake on the NAQT website?

Anyway, regardless of how we did, our team had a lot of fun and enjoyed the set. Thank you both to the writers of the set and the staff of Saturday's tournament for making it so enjoyable.

We have received inconsistent reports as to the identity of the undergraduate champion; we'll get that straightened out before we issue ICT invitations.

The person called "Todd Maslyle" in the stats is presumably Todd Maslyk, and "Kenji Dolimlim" is Kenji Golimlim. (You know, just to keep things in order.)
