VCU Open mirror @ Berkeley (August 9)

Post by njsbling »

UC Berkeley will be running a mirror of VCU Open on Saturday, August 9. This tournament is "open", so anyone (high school, college, graduate school, post-college) can play, although please note that the tournament difficulty is "near collegiate nationals level" (not accessible to those who are newer to quiz bowl). We will have a field cap of 10 teams and will have registration at 235 Dwinelle Hall at 8:30AM.

Fees/Discounts:
Base Fee: $110
Buzzer discount: $10 per working buzzer
Travel discount: $30 per 100 miles traveled (one way) (will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
Minimum entry fee: $40

Please use this google form to register: https://docs.google.com/a/berkeley.edu/ ... o/viewform

More information about the set can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15833

We will be running Geo Monstrosity VI on Saturday after the conclusion of VCU Open.

Field (6):
Ain't no Houellebecq Girl
Cormorant Strike
Dinner Men
Holden Calltech Institute for Telephony Metadata
Usual Suspects
Victorious Secret

So what's going on with this mirror? Any plans for the side events?

I might be mildly interested in playing that Texas High School camp set on Sunday (and staffing on Saturday).

We will be running Geo Monstrosity VI on Saturday after the conclusion of VCU Open. Fees/discounts TBD.

Due to lack of interest we will not be running any other side events.
