This is the announcement for the Illinois site for DRAGOON, a regular difficulty tournament produced by various members of the University of Illinois.

Logistics:

The tournament will be held in Gregory Hall, which is located here. A full interactive map of campus is located here. The most convenient parking lot is on the southeast corner of Sixth and Armory--it's lot E3 on this map. Registration on the day of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m., and we'll be looking to start at 8:30 a.m. If you are running late and/or are lost, you MUST call me and let me know, or I will start the tournament without you.

To register for this tournament, e-mail me at [email protected]. Posting in this thread does not constitute an official sign-up. Your e-mail should include the following information:

-Your school and the number of teams you are bringing
-Any discounts you are eligible for (see below)
-A phone number for a contact person for your team for the day of the tournament

Fee structure:

Base fee: $120 per team
Buzzer discount: -$5 per WORKING buzzer system
Travel discount: -$10 per 200 miles travelled as determined by Google Maps
Staffer discount: $-20 and free lunch for the staffer
Minimum fee per team: $60

If for some reason you find yourself paying out of pocket for this tournament for whatever reason (high school having to play unofficially, one person playing solo since the rest of their team can't go, etc.) let me know and I MAY give you a discount.

Louisville will have definitely one, probably two teams at this site.

Edit - make that definitely two teams.

It's looking like MCTC and Minnesota will each have at least one team at this site, absent a sudden rush of interest in the Minnesota mirror.

Hey everyone, I'm working on securing staffers as fast as I can, but currently I only have enough staffers to support a 20 team tournament, so that is the temporary field cap. (I hope to improve this to 24). If you wish to secure a spot in the field, please _E-MAIL_ me, or you risk being left on the waiting list.

We're going to have to drop to 2 teams. Sorry.

That brings us back down to 19 teams, with 1 spot left in the field.

Sadly, MCTC won't be able to go to this.

So does this mean the Minnesota mirror is ceasing to exist?

Given that only one Minnesota team is attending this site, it might actually work out well to run a mirror in Minnesota at a later date. I'll inquire with the UMN team.

A representative from each team attending should have just received an e-mail from me. If this is not the case, let me know ASAP.

Chicago A went undefeated to clear the field. Chicago B and OSU A tied for second place. Stats will come when I actually make them (I only have the scoresheets)

Kay Li and I did not play the Round 1 game against MSU B so we should each have one fewer game played

Thanks to Illinois for writing and hosting a fine tournament. The geographic spread of the field was actually quite impressive, from Minnesota down to Missouri and over to Ohio State. It was fun to play against a lot of teams from different parts of the country than we at Louisville usually see. Thumbs up to that person who commented on my Firefly shirt!

Is there any way that I could get a copy of this tournament to use in my team's practices?
