Greetings, I am pleased to announce that Alabama Academic Quizbowl Team will be hosting The Archdemon Does Not Forgive You , a mirror of Penn-ance, on 10/20.

At the moment, field cap will be 10 + 2n teams, where n = number of rooms that can be staffed by volunteer help from other schools. I will expand this if and when I feel more comfortable with the staffing situation.

This from the original Penn-ance announcement:

All questions will be power marked and no question will go past the 8th line (including bolding for power). The target difficulty is equivalent to MAGNI, the tournament that held this spot in the schedule last year.

The distribution we are using is as follows:
4/4 Literature (1/1 World and Other)
4/4 History
4/4 Science (1/1 Math and Other)
3/3 Arts
3/3 RMP
1/1 SS
1/1 Geography, CE, Trash, and Other

Each packet will also have a tiebreaker tossup and an extra bonus, each from literature, history, or science.

Eligibility:

Teams must be current students at the university or high school level. There will be no open teams.

Fees:

Fee Structure:
Fee will be $80 per team, if for some reason you cannot meet this criterion, talk to me beforehand. This is $30 off the original price. Please bring your buzzers and readers if you have any. We have 3 buzzer sets but will need more.

Registration:

Please contact me at husbandofsamus at gmail dot com to register. You may express interest here but please send me an email as well.

Location:

This tournament will take place at Bidgood Hall (where most of our tournaments usually take place).

Just a friendly reminder to teams out there, if you're interested in attending Penn-ance, just let me know. Our field should expand a little bit but I would like to run the event with more than 6 teams if possible.

We are definitely bringing at least one team, maybe two.

If Auburn has a team at this, it will be of almost completely new people who haven't been to a tournament ever. So, there is a large chance an Auburn group won't come. I should know more by tomorrow night or Monday.

Georgia Tech A went 9-0 to win this tournament, holding off a late charge by Alabama "Order" to keep a perfect record. We cut the tournament short one round because Tulane needed to head back and we were running a bit late. Stats should be up within an hour. Ubuntu was preserved.

To the Tulane team: I apologize for my behavior in that match. My words came spontaneously from my anger/stress(not at you) and I did not mean them.

This apology is sincerely appreciated. We understand that this tournament was unusually frustrating. Thank you very much and we hope to play you again under more auspicious circumstances.
