Original Post:
Hello all,

This post is to formally announce an all Disney side event, EPCOTT (Experimental Powermarked Collection Of Trash Tossups) written by me, Drew Scheeler. This tournament is a variation on the “Mike Cheyne-style tournament” in that the distribution and tossups have been selected based on my personal taste and interests. That being said, tossups are designed to be fun and accessible and encompass the whole of the Disney canon without giving into excessive vanity.

The current plan is for twelve ten packets of 21 tossups and no bonuses including ten regular play and two finals rounds eight regular and two finals. A post-finals “play at your own risk” packet should/will also be compiled with some questions too fiendish to appear in the main set. Most tossups are five to six lines and all are marked with superpowers and powers. The questions are shootout style, but can be played singles, doubles, or whatever format is deemed best for the location.

(Final) EPCOTT Distribution:
40% Movies (character, song, movie, theatrical cartoon, Muppets, Pixar, other, other)
25% Parks (ride/experience at both the Magic Kingdom/Disneyland, other California, EPCOT/MGM, Walt Disney World other, common link)
35% TV and Other Disney (ABC, DIsney Channel, People, Actors, Place, Videogame, Other)

Note that due to the repetitive and sequel-driven nature of the Disney canon, some films may be represented more than once. For example, Jeremy from So Dear to My Heart (a character) and Lavender Blue (a song from the same movie) might both appear as tossups, but never in the same packet and this will happen no more than three times for any film (except in the case of So Dear to My Heart which won't be making an appearance).

I’m hoping to get the set finished in the next two weeks and playtested before January 25th so it will be available for any tournament this semester.

But surely Humphrey the Bear will make multiple appearances, right?

I would like to see this mirrored in conjunction with TERP or Penn Bowl.

Is this finished? Will it be finished by Penn Bowl?

Currently, the only mirror request I have received is for Tulane to be played either the final week of March or first week in April.

That being said, the answers have all been chosen and this set is 70% written. Rather than churn out the rest on short notice to be played nowhere, I'm going to postpone releasing it until the end of February. I'll decommission the set following Madden's Jersey Shore 2, so it can be used at any tournament through the end of the summer.

I plan on using the extra time for upconverting the existing tossups to ~seven lines. The final distribution is reflected above.

Steven Wellstead, Steve Oppenheim, Paul Nelson and I were read about 130 of Drew's tossups after our trash tournament in December, and we had a good time with this, so I know anyone who wants to play it will have fun as well.

Does this collection have a finite open subcover?

Also, this sounds like a great idea for a trash tournament. Paging Dallin Kelson.

I hope this sneaks in a sports question or two under the principle that Disney owns ESPN.

I am THIS close to listing a bunch of answers I could see working. I shall refrain from doing so for obvious reasons.

This set is chugging along splendidly. I'll be playtesting most of this by late next week.

Yes, yes it is.

There are at least ten ESPN/sports/fringe sports/sport movies questions... I hope players that know how sports-averse I am will be pleasantly surprised.

Definitely want to know if this set comes South. It's a packet made for my girls at Saint Mary's!

This set was really fun--Drew did a great job writing it.

We mirrored this today.

There are 10 packets--everyone played 9 and read at least one with Gaurav Kandlikar generously reading the remaining three packets (he sort of played the other questions and got one tossup for 10 points).

There were superpowers and powers.

Stats (no guarantee as to accuracy):

Mike Cheyne: 31/27/36/15 (1310)
Bernadette Spencer: 6/7/14/8 (325)
Rob Carson: 3/3/20/7 (270)
Melanie Keating: 1/8/13/4 (250)
Andrew Hart: 2/2/10/8 (130)
Shannon Fletcher: 3/3/3/8 (95)
Eliza Grames: 2/1/2/2 (65)

It was fun. I think the fact that it was on a lot more than just the movies inflated my score a bit (I seem to remember the Disney World attractions a bit more than my teammates), but it was a blast to play.
