Harvard College Bowl is pleased to announce a mirror of Chicago's Peace Resolution tournament on March 3, 2012. "The Peaceful Resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis" is being co-edited by Ike Jose of Illinois and Marshall Steinbaum, and Gautam Kandlikar will be the science consultant. The writing team consists of several of Chicago's teammates: Connie Prater, Tracy Lee, Charles Tian, Sam Bailey, and George Dewey.

This tournament is intended as preparation for ACF Nationals. Consequently, we will be largely adhering to the ACF Nationals distribution. We also intend to ruthlessly control difficulty--we would like to make sure there are no dead tossups or impossible bonus parts.

The tournament will be open to anyone. However, we may attempt to ensure a competitive marketplace by limiting superteams. If you'd like to sign up, please leave a note in this thread.

Distribution
4/4 Literature: 1/1 American, 1/1 British, 1/1 European, and 1/1 World.
4/4 History: 1/1 American, 1/1 European (not British), 1/1 World, 1/0 or 0/1 British, and 1/0 or 0/1 Ancient/Classical.

I wanted to bump this thread to say that by popular demand from Chris Ray and Eric Mukherjee we are having an after-party for this tournament. Everyone should come because it will surely be the social event of the quizbowl season.

RPI will definitely bring one team to this, maybe two. Do you know how the field is shaping out for this?

What about the rest of Yale?

No official Yale team is coming. I don't know if any individual members are planning to come as free agents.

Dartmouth is definitely bringing one team. Additional teams are unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility.

So what about the rest of the usual suspects? Brown? MIT? Columbia?

Much as I'd love to, I'll be on my way south by the 3rd.

Nope. I was planning on going to the main site, but I have an event with my firm.

So if RPI and Dartmouth each bring a team and Harvard has a house team we've only got three teams. So...is this thing going to happen?

We could have two house teams to bring it to four, and it could just be a 4x round robin or something like that.

Brown will probably send a team to this.

I'm trying to gather interest for a second RPI team. If the two Harvard house teams remain, that's six teams, which is fine by me

Unfortunately, I asn't able to get anyone for a second team, so we're only bringing one team. Could someone from Harvard post a field update/tournament building/etc... so I still know this thing is happening?

The field is Brown, Dartmouth, RPI, and we're hoping to either do two Harvard teams and an MIT team, or three Harvard teams (we asked MIT if they wanted to play but havent heard back yet). That could just collapse to one Harvard team, but we'd rather there be a wider field. Anyway I'm pretty sure we still plan to run this. It'll probably be in Sever but Dallas knows for sure.

I talked to Neil and he said he's not going, but he didn't rule the rest of MIT. Also, I think Dallas mentioned that this was going to be in Emerson, not Sever.

Right, the tournament will take place in Robinson (small building right next to Sever where it usually is) and not Emerson. It will be in rooms 105, 106, and 107. The field so far is Dartmouth, Brown, RPI, and a Harvard house unless we manage to have three house teams.

Brown won the tournament by going 11-0 for the day. Since there were only four teams, there was a double round robin for the first six games. Then we added two house teams and did a single round robin between the six teams.
