Posted: Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:57 pm
The University of Chicago would like to invite you to Hyde Park for the Collegiate Novice Tournament, to be hosted on October 2nd, 2011. Northern Illinois will host an earlier mirror with the same question set on September 17th.
This tournament is a mirror of the Collegiate Novice 2 set, produced by Andrew Hart and his crew. We hope that this tournament serves as an introduction for new players to the fun and excitement of pyramidal quizbowl. Please refer to the above link for eligibility rules and descriptions of the question set.
Cost: The cost is $15 per player. We offer a $5 buzzer discount and a $10 moderator discount.
Schedule: Registration will be in Harper Memorial Library (room TBA), starting at 9:15 am. We intend to end registration by 9:45 am and start the games promptly at 10:00 am. Please do not be late.
The tournament will consist of at least 7 rounds and at most 10 rounds (including finals). We will determine the precise format only once the number of teams is finalized, but we intend to give each team as many games as possible.
Field:
Northwestern (3)
Purdue (?)
Wisconsin (1/2)
Chicago House teams (6?)
Please contact me at ueda.daichi AT gmail.com to register or ask questions. Please send me an e-mail with your university, the number of teams, buzzers, and moderators, and an emergency-contact number to register.
We look forward to see your team at the tournament.
