2011 NAQT SCT travel exception committee

NAQT's ACUI partnership page wrote:Teams will always be able to attend their "home" Sectional; they will also always have the choice of attending the closest Sectional instead, even if it is in another region. Should they want to attend a Sectional that is neither of these, a request for an exception will be considered by a committee established by NAQT and ACUI.
This committee has been formed and is now taking requests for the 2011 SCT. Its members are R. Robert Hentzel, Jeff Hoppes, and Dwight Kidder of NAQT, and Gail Ferlazzo and Tim Arth of ACUI.
Reminders on the ground rules:
1) Attending the closest SCT site to your campus is always permitted.
2) Attending the SCT site in your
ACUI region is always permitted.
3) If your team wishes to attend a different SCT site than the above, please email me with an exception request.

The following teams have submitted requests to the committee:
Arizona State (SCT at Caltech) January 8th. Approved for the Division I team January 20th; rejected for the Division II teams January 20th.
RIT (SCT at Moravian) January 8th. Approved January 9th.

At this point, I'm truly starting to think there won't even be an SCT in Region 13, unless you know about prospective teams in the region that I don't. I inquired to U of A about how things were going, but no answer so far. We have only three weeks left to make hotel reservations for possibly as many as 14 people. If we could know for sure during the next week, that would be great.
Thanks for taking the time to consider our case carefully, though.

Now I just hope that U of A house team actually does materialize, unlike last year (when they dropped at the last moment). Hopefully being on their turf will help them to join our world.
