ECSO 2: Pick a Date

Post by Skepticism and Animal Feed »

While no mirror agreement has been drafted or signed, it appears likely that we will be able to host a mirror of ANGST at Hunter College in New York City on either July 10 or July 17. Since ANGST is a packet submission event, it is possible that writing would be required, but I'm not sure at this point.

If you have serious interest in attending this East Coast Summer Open, please let me know in this thread which date you would prefer. I personally prefer the 10th, and strongly so, since the 17th is the week before CO, but ultimately the choice is yours.

I think I would prefer July 10th as well, though I won't know for 100% sure until the weekend.

Yetman brings word that the 10th would be more convenient for him too.

I too would prefer the 10th. I should be able to make it either date, though. And even if for some reason I can't, I can probably still drop off Yale's buzzer, in case you need it.

I won't be able to make either, as my program ends in mid-August.

I would be interested in either date, but I'm not officially in any team now, unless you still count my high school team. I also have a few questions:

1. Am I out of my mind for wanting to go to this as a graduating high school senior?
2. If Penn is going to this, can I join one of their teams before actually registering at the school?
3. If not, could I hypothetically go with a high school teammate @Nik Churik and/or people from other highschools @Lily Chen ?

This being an open tournament, you can play with any of those people.

Damn right you can. Send me an email about it at InfiniteStryker0 [at] gmail [dot] com and we'll see what we can do.

There is no update about the writing requirement, because Andy Saunders has not yet replied to my email. A prize will go to whoever can successfully contact Andy and ask him this question.

Honestly, I just started to write a packet. If it turns out there is no writing requirement, I can always submit it for something else. I would recommend doing this. If worst comes to worst, the ECSO2 field writing packets will allow us to run our own tournament if the ANGST mirror doesn't work out.

With all my CO work, there's no way I can write a packet for this.

Yeah, if this is going to be packet submission there's no way it's happening this late in the game.

OK, it looks like packet submission is off the table.

What I would like to do now is acquire the rights to a high school tournament and use that as an insurance set, which we would play in case ANGST does not happen or in case it does happen but we aren't allowed to use the set. I have contacted the TD of BOAT II for this purpose.

Just as a heads-up, the TD of BOAT II is a little busy being about to graduate, and we rented the set anyway. You should probably talk to Jasper Lee of Solon, who wrote the set.
