Ezell-Harding Academic Tournament - September 18, 2010

Post by RGRummage »

Save the date!!! I wanted to let you know that the seventeenth Ezell-Harding Christian School Academic Tournament (Nashville, TN) has been scheduled for Saturday, September 18, 2010.

We will again use a round-robin format with each round consisting of twenty tossup questions, ten bounce back bonus questions, and a worksheet prepared this spring and summer by members of our team, as well as by faculty consultants. All rounds have five social studies tossups, five literature tossups, five science tossups, and a combination of five math, art, and music tossups. At the conclusion of the morning rounds, we will give each school a copy of the questions used for the preliminary rounds.

We hope to see you again this year. Thanks--Ronnie Rummage

Grayson would love to bring two teams to this, but don't count on us 100% yet.

We have e-mailed the invitations and registration forms for our seventeenth Ezell-Harding Christian School Academic Tournament to be held on September 18, 2010, in Nashville. If you did not receive this information and would like a copy, please e-mail me at [email protected]. If you have previously been on our mailing list, we will send you a print copy as well.

Our registration fee remains at $60 per team with a four-team limit per school. There will be a varsity division only though jv teams are certainly invited to compete in our tournament. We look forward to having you.

So is the format 10 tossups no bonuses, worksheet, 10 tossups with 3-part bonuses (that bounce)?

We are looking forward to another strong field of competitors for our seventeenth annual tournament in Nashville. This is just a reminder that the deadline for getting in on the $60.00 registration fee is Monday, September 6. After that date, the fee will be $75.00. For those who have lost the earlier e-mail or who lack information, please contact me at [email protected]. Previous posts offer information about our format and question distribution. See you soon.

Dr. Rummage,

We won't be able to attend this year, unfortunately, but we wish you and your team nothing but success with the tournament. And good luck to all the teams in attendance - it looks like it will be quite a strong field.

This tournament was impeccably run as always. Although there was an effort to make the questions gradually harder, I felt like this tournament associated harder questions with obscurity. I'm not sure if I can go into any specifics here, but some of the answer choices were exceedingly difficult. There was a little bit too much biographical information in each question as well. All in all, a good tournament, but just notes that I and others that I talked to had. Thanks again to Dr. Rummage and the rest of the writers and volunteers for their effort and hospitality.
