This will not be held as a fall date tournament to provide the best questions/tourney as possible. This will in all probability be a spring tournament, perhaps with Richard Montgomery collaboration

Actually, we may be able to have this on time, as we are currently working on a collaboration with Richard Montgomery to get this done

Um... well, that is a very good question. Simply put September is just too early especially if we want out-of-state teams to attends, which we do. So I can say with some degree of surety that an early September date is not a good idea. Possibly later September.

I don't know of any Ohio tournaments that day, so I could talk to my coach about it if it's the 25th.

Well, WKU moved our tournament from that date because the KAAC Coaches Conference is taking place that weekend. But I think Friday is the big day for that, and I doubt every coach from every school in Kentucky is going to be there. And since I think it's in Louisville, Manual would be better suited to host a tournament that day than anyone else.

I find it ironic that the same person that suggest WKU moved off of that date now suggests Manual move to that date...

Haha, that's what I assumed.
I wasn't trying to be antagonistic, just joking a little.

As far as date, I would like to see mid November.
October is already loaded and a fourth tournament may be better off in another, less congested month.

November is pretty congested too. The first weekend is Tippencanoe in Ohio (which usually draws at least a few Kentucky teams), the second is JV Challenge, the third is U of L, and the fourth is Thanksgiving.

December has Rowdy Raider at Wright State on the 4th, which a lot of Kentucky teams come to. The 11th is an Ohio trash tournament, but I'm not sure if Kentucky teams go to that or if that would stop my team from coming to your thing. In January, the 8th is a tournament in Columbus that would probably reduce your attendance among Ohio teams, the 15th is a decent OAC tournament in Southwestern Ohio that would probably take away a couple of your teams, the 22nd is free, and the 29th is a crappy OAC tournament in northeastern Ohio, so I doubt there'd be much of a problem, at least in Ohio, for those two dates.

Who can I contact about this Tipp tournament?
Vandy will also likely hold a tournament in November...

December also has Kentucky State BETA and the PAA tournament, which would cut Grayson, MadNoHo and all of the Owensboro teams.

January...
Gov. Cup on the 29th, no matter how much we all despise it.
Flemming county, which is also an inferior format, is on the 15th.
I say go for January 22nd.

The 22nd is Dorman (which always draws a lot of the top Kentucky teams) and MS District, so you wouldn't get any middle school teams.

Probably Joe Bellas. I'm not sure if he reads these boards or not, but you can PM him on the Ohio boards. It's on November 6 and uses an A set.

Okay, thanks.

In reference to Tipp tournament:
(This is off topic, but I don't really know where else to say it.)
Is there any way someone could politely suggest that they not use single elimination for playoffs?
That is a pretty big negative if you ask me...

Please do, I'd appreciate that very much. I'm not sure why they use single-elimination, almost all other Ohio tournaments rebracket so it's not a regional thing.

February in Ohio has NAQT tournaments in the Northeast that might reduce attendance among southwestern teams on the 5th, 12th, and 19th, and a non-NAQT TU/B event on the 20th. An awful tournament in OAC format is the 26th, so if it were that day we would love a good reason to skip it, and I expect a number of other non-northeastern Ohio teams would as well.

KAAC on Feb. 19 is all, I think. 26 would be a nice day for it. Actually I don't think there were in real February tournaments in Kentucky at all last year. I say go for it.

5th is Middle School Regionals.

ACT on the 12th, but I would guess it's the ACT least likely to cause a lot of trouble (seniors will already have it done, most juniors would just be waiting until the state administered one in March).

19th is High School Regionals.

Nothing on the 26th.

There are going to be things every weekend from now until April...
You guys should have your tournament at the earliest possible date. Don't worry about SAT dates or ACT dates. If teams want to come, they won't decide to stay home because their two juniors are taking an ACT. It looks like September 25th is open. If you guys want good teams to come, announce a date as soon as possible. (but make sure your packets are playtested and well-edited).

Any word on the date? We're going to be putting together our schedule in the next week, and if this will be the fall I'd like to know, both so we can plan to go down there and I don't schedule a college visit on the same weekend. Also, if it's being postponed until winter, the February 5th tournament in Ohio is using the same set as UofL is in November, and I know at least two southwestern Ohio teams are going to that and therefore won't be at the Ohio tournament.
