David Riley

Post by Egan »

I have been asked by David to update the community on his health condition.

David was taken to the hospital on Monday evening with a sudden upper GI condition. He was put on a respirator, and as such was heavily sedated until Wednesday evening. He is alert and talking, and feeling better.

I visited briefly with David today. He is still in intensive care, but is scheduled to be moved to a regular room, once a bed opens up. He is currently scheduled to be released on Monday or Tuesday. NAQT has been informed that he has had to bow out working the ICT on April 10. That aside, he is currently scheduled to make any and all appearances.

As an aside to what David asked me to post, rather than try to snail mail cards to him (I think Loyola Academy is off all of next week anyway), I am sure that he would be grateful to get a brief e-mail of encouragement from well wishers.

I just spoke to him and he sounds fairly strong...and very eager to get out and back to quizbowl. If everything continues going well, he should be out in a couple of days. He's very grateful for all your kind messages.

Just a brief update.

Late this afternoon, Coach Riley was taken down to the ICU again. While some of the tests he had today showed promising results, he was experiencing shortness of breath, and was taken there as a precaution.

He will not be released before tomorrow afternoon.
