Seeking Mirrors: UGA Classic City Classic

Post by gwaustin4 »

This is a really late announcement, as the actual tournament was held yesterday, but we do have a high school question set available for mirroring.

Each round has 20 tossups and 20 bonuses, with the tossups averaging 6 lines in length. We followed the acf distribution for all rounds, except that we used on average slightly less philo and socsci, with each category generally recieving 0/1 or 1/0 in around 2/3rds of the rounds and receiving 1/1 in the other third. Also, we used no math comp. In my opinion the questions were high school accessible, being on the easier side for a very competitive field, and a little on the hard side for a less-experienced field. Our field at UGA included some of the best teams in Georgia as well as many less-experienced teams, and I was pleased to see the latter generally able to put up 150-250 in most of their games. To see the stats and/or tournament discussion, the thread is here http://hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewtopic. ... ty#p157026

These questions have already been written, so 10 rounds of questions plus some tiebreaker tossups are available immediately. If anyone is interested but would need more than 10 rounds we could write more without a problem. Also, as these have been written and we aren't scrambling to finish anything, we could modify some rounds for slight difficulty or other issues per request.

If you are interested or have any other questions, please post on the thread or email me at [email protected]

How long would you be interested in leaving these open for mirroring?

I don't see any reason why not to leave it open as long as teams are still willing to mirror it, so long as it isn't next year or something similarly unreasonable.

Hopefully blabbing issues won't be a factor in this.

Just an update, I've had a few teams contact me with some interest, and both would do their tournaments in January if all works out well.

In light of this, for the sake of question discussion and ease of comparison, I'm gonna cut off the possibility of other mirrors past mid-ish february.
