Boise State Introductory Tournament, 10/10

Post by tiwonge »

Boise State will be hosting an introductory tournament for local schools.

As this is an introductory tournament, we're running the tournament at cost ($10 for copies of the question packet).

I apologize for the late notice for this, but hopefully some schools might be able to make it.

Colin,
Is this just open to local teams? Our team gets a travel budget each year. Also, are the questions hand written by your school or will they be provided by an outside source?

NAQT will be providing us with a packet of introductory questions. I'm not sure which set yet.

It's not just for local teams, but I'm not sure if it's worth it for experienced teams to travel this far. If you want to travel, come to the ACF Fall on October 31.

(That's the reason why this is being held before ACF Fall. I wanted to give any school that was going to participate in ACF Fall at least some experience with this style of play.)

By introductory questions, you mean IS-A, correct?

Tentative field list, as of today:

Idaho Charter for the Arts: 2 teams (possibly 3)
Kuna High School: 1 team (possibly 2)
Bishop Kelly High School: 1 team (possibly 2)
Rocky Mountain High School: probably 1 team
Juan Diego (Salt Lake City!): possibly 1 team

Based on the information I had this morning, I reserved 4 rooms, so I'll cap the tournament at 9 teams. 2 of the possiblies came after I made room reservations.

Final field:

Idaho Arts: 1 team
Bishop Kelly: 1 team
Kuna High School: 1 team

We played a double round robin.

(I threw together a team of freshmen, recently of Bishop Kelly, so that teams wouldn't have to sit out a bye. These games didn't count in the standings.)

Statistics:
http://math.boisestate.edu/~mcnamara/qb ... dings.html

Results:
Bishop Kelly and Idaho Arts were both 3-1 at the end of the double round robin, and Bishop Kelly won the playoff between the two schools. Mat from Kuna High School was top scorer.
