Re: VCU Season Finale Tournament IV -- April 24, 2010
This tournament was just abut perfect.
Kudos, again, to VCU for running the most efficient tournaments out there. We played SEVEN games before lunch, and that included a short delay while we waited for a team to not bother showing up. And round 9 was done before 2:45. The finals the awards were finished by 3:30. Pretty awesome. It was a pleasure to help out, as well, you know i always enjoy doing what i can to help.
Maggie Walker is pretty awesome of course, but TJ is not far behind and like Dr. Barnes said, could have beaten them today. Great job to both of those teams.
Also thanks and congrats to Whitman for another good game. We'll always have close ones.
Lastly, these questions were downright great. Maybe the best we've seen this year (comparable, perhaps better, than GDS' set). The only thing it was missing was a power mark in tossups! Oh well. We really enjoyed these questions a lot; they had interesting leadins, accessible answers, tough "hard" bonuses, and were generally quite well-written. I did notice one factual error (might have been a typo overlooked?) that almost changed the result of a game between us and TJ. I'll let Lily know about that one.

This had better not be the same one I found in February...Carangoides ciliarius wrote: I did notice one factual error (might have been a typo overlooked?) that almost changed the result of a game between us and TJ. I'll let Lily know about that one.

And hopefully not the one I found in March (which is probably the same one you noticed)...Judy Sucks a Lemon for Breakfast wrote:This had better not be the same one I found in February...Carangoides ciliarius wrote: I did notice one factual error (might have been a typo overlooked?) that almost changed the result of a game between us and TJ. Also, GDS did this at Maryland Fall in a game against St. Joseph A, having gotten 11 tossups.jonpin wrote:[to be clear, this is in response to the scoresheet that shows MW as a whole going 18/1 to win 635-40.Frater Taciturnus wrote:Maggie Walker A beats TJ A to win.
That's insane.
Looking at the stats for this, and comparing them to Prison Bowl NYC, it did get me to thinking. Has a team ever had a perfect game on bonuses, hearing 10 or more? LASA had games of 37-for-39 and 38-for-39; Maggie Walker here went 49-for-51 in one game. Is such a feat even rarer than 20-for-20?

Nope, I definitely fixed both of those. Mr. Chrzanowski, what was the error?Ben Cole wrote:And hopefully not the one I found in March (which is probably the same one you noticed)...Judy Sucks a Lemon for Breakfast wrote:This had better not be the same one I found in February...Carangoides ciliarius wrote: I did notice one factual error (might have been a typo overlooked?) that almost changed the result of a game between us and TJ.
