Bobby Hill's entry into his school's quizbowl team was the focus of the King of The Hill rerun aired tonight on FOX.
Bobby carries his team to numerous victories by mastering pop culture. Eventually, however, he becomes overwhelmed and faints from a panic attack while trying to absorb some pop culture knowledge while watching T.V. displays at a department store.
Just thought I'd leave that out there. Better than nothing...I guess...

Probably because it wouldn't make for very compelling television. Think about a high-level high school quiz bowl match...questions go by at not-ready-for-primetime speed, the audience likely wouldn't be able to follow along or "play at home", everyone's older than the spelling bee kids and thus not as cute...maybe if the NAQT-commissioned documentary manifests itself at some point in the future, there will be an instance of compelling televisual quiz bowl.Glacierguy1 wrote:Why isn't actual quizbowl featured on major nationwide television? Because scriptwriters a) would not know good quizbowl if it hit them in the face and b) fear that the audience would be alienated by questions on things like Marinokov's Rule, Fredrick Barbarossa, or Death in Venice. In other words, what Evan said as I was about to post this. Why isn't actual quizbowl featured on major nationwide television? And I mean things that are good quizbowl, not "made for TV" quizbowl
Incidentally, wasn't there a thread on televising good quizbowl? I'll track it down unless someone else finds it first.
