Jonathan Haas posted the following results for last Saturday's Western NC Shootout at South Caldwell High School. The event was a restricted event to schools in certain western NC counties. More information about that is on his tournament website. Note the Thomas Jefferson referred to below is not the Thomas Jefferson everyone is familiar with!
Congratulations to Wilkes Central High School—the 2008 Western NC Shootout Champions! Robinson High School won the JV trophy, and Salisbury High School was the varsity first runner up.
This year’s event was only open to teams from Western NC counties and a field of 26 teams from 13 schools attended. Since more Western NC schools now have buzzer systems and the pool of trained tournament staff is growing, I am strongly considering easing geographical restrictions for next year. I will not announce a final decision, however, until next school year.
After five rounds in Swiss-pairs format, the top 12 were.
1. Robinson A 5-0 355 ppg
