Tin Man Invitational (TMI)

The Scottsboro Quizbowl Teams would like to invite you to the first annual "Tin Man Invitational" to be held on February 9, 2008. We will begin registration at 8:00 am at Scottsboro Junior High School and begin play at 9 am. But, if all teams are present before 9 am, we will begin play after a brief coaches meeting. The cost is seventy ($70) dollars per team with a discount of 10 dollars for working buzzers, 10 dollars if you travel over 200 miles as verified by either MSN Live Search or MapQuest, 5 dollar discount for any team after the first team from a given school.
TMI will be a NAQT event using IS-74 set of questions. All rules for official tournaments will be followed except each individual match will not be timed. There will be trophies given for the top three teams and medals for the top 3 individual high scores for the tournament in both the varsity and junior varsity divisions. We will only have a junior varsity division if we have more than 6 teams in the division.
Playoff qualification information will be given at the coachâ€™s meeting but junior varsity teams will be included in the overall playoff to allow them to qualify for the High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT) in Chicago later this year. Please attempt to limit your rosters to six (6) players maximum. You will be allowed to substitute between matches and at half-time (question 10) of each match. Lunch will be provided on site. We will be serving pizza, with a whole box costing 9 dollars and single slices costing $1.50. We will have an assortment of drinks, chips, and candy on hand which will cost $.0.50 each except for some of the smaller candies which will be a quarter. Coaches, please email me or fax me your orders as soon as you can, so that we can insure that we have enough food on hand and your teams get their food as quickly as possible.

We might be interested, but you are using the same set as Cedar Shoals Bulldog Brawl on February 2nd, which would draw away some GA teams.

I noticed that also.. we had the same problem with our 1st tournament this year but got things worked out with U of Alabama's club and they switched things around because they wanted to us that set for a CC event

Hey Matt, It would appear (if you didnt get my facebook message) that for the second consecutive time, I can't help with yalls tourney. We have sectionals that day (that I just found out about that I shouldve known) Alas, some day I will try to keep my word on things. Sorry about that
