SUNDAY? INQUIRY: High School Celebrity Shoot in DC-metro

Post by First Chairman »

I need some guinea pigs. I am in the process of writing the set of questions for this year's High School Celebrity Shoot... but since I don't have a team at GMU (no one's approached me saying they want to have a team anyway), I am wondering whether anyone might be interested in a "practice test" of the HSCS format.

I can do this on a Sunday at a location in the DC area. No buzzers, but probably ask for $5 per person to defray photocopying and supplies.

If we were to go high-hog on the rules, I'd want teams of exactly four, but I can organize this as being open-call for individuals. There is a single-elimination series at the end for an individual champion, though if one wants me to actually get a prize... I'd have to raise the price. :)

Players of ALL abilities are encouraged to come. Freshmen and sophomores are welcome. Teachers are welcome. Dinosaurs too.

If you're game, just add a post below. The key is that I do want to secure a venue, though I could perhaps PERHAPS get a space at Mason if I have enough advanced warning.

This is also a request for a test date or two. Prefer October dates.

Your major concerns (datewise):

1. 10/7 is TJ's tournament as well as Virginia Tech's
2. 10/14 is SATs
3. 10/21, in addition to being PSATs, is Blake's tournament
4. 10/28 is an ACT date
5. 11/4 is another SAT date

So, if you go with October, it's time to pick your poison.

Understood... which is why I'm asking for a Sunday possibility, or perhaps a mid-week session (though that will depend on my schedule too).

10.28 will be the Cleveland date, and we're working on the North Carolina date for November. Hence...

10.15 perhaps?

An ACT date should probably not be a concern in the DC area. I wouldn't be too concerned about a weekday either if you're only looking to attract schools near or inside the Beltway.

True...

Do people go to school in the DC area on Columbus Day (10.9)?
