Results Alabama NAQT Middle School State

Post by Matthew D »

Here are the results from the our 1st NAQT Middle School State.

1st - Whitesburg Middle School 301.5 PPG
2nd - Brindlee Mountain Middle School 235.0 PPG
3rd - Russellville Middle School 148.0 PPG

Individual Scoring was
Kyle Clark Brindlee Mountain 735 total points
Mark Hertenstein Trinity Presbyterian 680 total points

All the teams that came had a very good showing, even though a majority of them have not participated in an NAQT style tournament. We didn't use the neg 5's but did use the powers. We played round robin with 11 teams. Several close games and the third place trophy ended up being decided in a full round shootout between Russellville Middle School and Pizitz Middle School. I hope that this will start the move to more pyramidal question in Alabama's Middle School.

I really need to thank all the people that helped with the tournament
Adam Pinson from UAB
Dr Huntley from Northeast Alabama CC
Alison Huntley from Snead State CC
Brad Frick from Northeast Alabama CC
Mark Morris from Brindlee Mt HS
Andy Knowles from Brindlee Mt HS
Doug Wynn
Candace Crosson
All the coaches, players, and all my students..

I'm glad...this is a long time coming. I didn't even know questions could be longer than 2 lines before I hit high school.
